Re-live, remember and respect the havoc, devastation and impact of Ike’s landfall with Cone Man Running’s Eye of the Storm: Tales From Hurricane Ike on stage from Wednesday, September 12 to Sunday, September 21, 2013.

Written and collected by Fernando Dovalina, this performance brings together a collection on nine dramatic and comedic works, providing a multifaceted look back at Hurricane Ike. Together they show the resilience of the human spirit, the Texas Coast and the Bayou City.

The performances include both short plays and monologues, including a satirical play in which six significant hurricanes argue amongst themselves over which one had the greatest influence on presidential politics. Also on deck are a monologue from a dog named Molly, the tale of a bitter woman who tries to abscond with Houston’s last bag of ice in Houston, a Galveston bartender keeping the peace in his bar, a teenage hurricane party gone bad, and of course the threats to a cross-dressing man and his wife.

Hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast, including Galveston and then Houston itself on September 13, 2008. The play of short stories is presented by Cone Man Running at Studio 101 at Spring Street Studios in the First Ward Arts District. It is directed by Steve Carpentier.
