  • The Original Greek Festival at Annunciation Orthodox Cathedral | Thursday, October 5 to Saturday, October 7 – The beloved festival returns to Montrose, bringing with it three days of family fun. Expect Greek dancing demonstrations, an agora where you can shop for unique Greek and Greek-made items, music, tours of the cathedral and, of course, loads of Greek food. Opa! $5. Times vary.
  • 44th Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, October 5 to Saturday, October 7 | FREE – Celebrate Chicano culture with performances across three nights, featuring David Lee Garza y Los Musicales on Thursday; Los Palominos on Friday; and a Saturday night performance from Little Joe y La Familia. 7pm.
  • Alejandro Fernandez in Concert at Toyota Center | Friday, October 6 – The multiple Grammy-winning Mexican mariachi singer returns to Houston, joined by his son Alex, for a night that celebrates Latino culture through music. $49 and up. 9pm.
  • Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival at Root Memorial Square | Saturday, October 7 | FREE – Celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day at the annual parade that begins at Root Memorial Square, just outside of Toyota Center. Dish on jollof rice, and enjoy afrobeats and a cultural procession through the streets of Downtown. 10am to 4pm.
  • Korean Festival at Discovery Green | Saturday, October 7 | FREE – Enjoy Korean music, foods, performances, shopping and more at this day-long, family-friendly event in Downtown. 11am to 9pm.

  • Fighting: Ukrainian War Photographers Exhibition Tour at Silver Street Studios | Saturday, October 7 | FREE – FotoFest curator Max Fields and the Consul General of Ukraine in Houston, Vitalii Tarasiuk, host a tour of this exhibition which features photography captured by 16 journalists serving on the frontlines of the Russo-Ukrainian War. 2pm.
  • Oktoberfest at Sugar Land Town Square | Saturday, October 7 – Expect an afternoon and evening of Bavarian music and dancing, beer, authentic German food, games and prizes, and more. Traditional German fare, along with Oktoberfest-inspired dishes, will be served by Town Square restaurants. $5 and up. 4pm to 9pm.
  • Jonas Brothers in Concert at Toyota Center | Saturday, October 7 – Fresh off releasing their summer record, The Album, the brothers join forces for a supersized concert that performs all five of their albums in full, from the 2007 self-titled debut to their current Billboard Top Ten album. $49 and up. Saturday 7:30pm.
  • Houston Dynamo FC vs. Colorado Rapids at Shell Energy Stadium | Saturday, October 7 – After adding a new piece of hardware to the trophy case this week, the Dynamo host Colorado for their final home match of the regular season. $15 and up. 7:30pm.
  • 49th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission | Saturday, October 7 & Sunday, October 8 – Revel in the enchanting world of knights and ladies, kings and queens, fairies and elves. Expect unique performances and vendors offering an array of handmade goods, food, music and more. This weekend’s theme is the Queen’s Birthday Celebration. Costumes are encouraged. $29 and up. 9am to 8pm.
  • TerrorFest 2 at Southern Star Brewery | Saturday, October 7 & Sunday, October 8 – The Conroe brewery hosts a two-day spooky fest with a UFO and supernatural theme this year. Expect immersive experiences, horror film celebrities, a costume contest, escape rooms, a haunted house, artists and vendors, and more. $20 for a weekend pass; free for ages 10 and under. Saturday 10am to 6pm; Sunday 10am to 5pm.

  • 2023 ALDS: Houston Astros vs. TBD at Minute Maid Park | Saturday, October 7 & Sunday, October 8 – Following a late clinch of the American League West division title on the final day of the season, the Astros embark on yet another playoff run, facing the winner of a Wild Card series between the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. The Astros will be seeking their 5th American League Division Series title since winning the division—and their first World Series title—in 2017. Tickets are sold out, but you may find hard-to-get tickets on the TicketNetwork resale marketplace. Times TBA.
  • Fahm & Friends Market & Rockets Liftoff Party at Toyota Center | Sunday, October 8 | No Cover – Swing by for a Sunday morning market that celebrates Filipino American History Month, courtesy of Have a Nice Day. Enjoy food, craft vendors and Filipino culture before heading inside for a free open practice to check out the new Rockets squad. Houston legends Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler will also be around to tipoff the new season. 10am to 2pm.
  • 281 Day Party at Social Beer Garden | Sunday, October 8 | No Cover – Celebrate the 281st day of the year with this H-Town bash featuring live DJs, local food, purple drank, and more. Noon to 7pm.
  • The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art presents Fly Byes at Smither Park | Sunday, October 8 | FREE – This afternoon of art and fun includes free music, crafts, lowrider cars from Boyz en el Barrio and Certified Car Club, and a screening of the short film, Fly Byes at the mosaic-covered Smither Park. 1:30pm to 6:30pm.
  • Annual Oyster Shucking Contest at Julep Bar | Sunday, October 8 – Some of Houston’s hottest chefs compete for bragging rights and the grand prize in this annual event that celebrates Gulf Coast oysters. Proceeds are donated to a charity of the winning chef’s choice. $5. 3pm to 6pm.
