  • Comedian Jimmy O. Yang at Houston Improv | Thursday, October 13 to Saturday, October 15 – Having appeared in hit shows like Silicon Valley and Netflix’s Space Force, the comic and actor takes over the Improv for three straight nights while touring the country. $60 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Thorn & Moon presents Carnivale Spooktacular at Market Square Park | Friday, October 14 | No Cover – Known for their monthly Magickal Market in Northside, Thorn and Moon host a special and spooky pop-up in Downtown, offering tons of witchy wares and local goods to shop while you enjoy performances, circus acts, trick-or-treating, and much more. Prizes will also be awarded for Scariest, Funniest and Most Creative Costume. 5pm to 10pm.
  • Houston Symphony presents Hocus Pocus Pops at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Friday, October 14 | FREE – Bring your friends and family to hear the Houston Symphony’s renditions of some Halloween classics at the Hocus Pocus Pops in the Woodlands. Free for lawn and mezzanine seating; $25 for orchestra seating. 7:30pm.
  • Performing Arts Houston presents Diavolo at Jones Hall | Friday, October 14 & Saturday, October 15 – Performed by a cast of military veterans and civilian dancers, Diavolo’s S.O.S – Signs of Strength sees the performers utilize dance as a tool to help restore veterans’ physical, mental and emotional strengths in a program about courage, sacrifice, resilience and human connection. $34 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Oktoberfest 2022 at King’s Bierhaus | Friday, October 14 to Sunday, October 16 – The Bavarian BierHaus in the Heights hosts a weekend of Oktoberfest fun with a wide selection of German beer and authentic German plates, costume contests, mug lifting competitions, live music and carnival games. $18 and up. Friday and Saturday 11am to midnight; Sunday 11am to 9pm.

  • ChildAdvocates Superhero Run at CityCentre | Saturday, October 15 – This annual run through CityCentre encourages participants to don their favorite superhero contest and set out on a 5K, all while fundraising for Child Advocates, an organization that helps provide support, medical and mental help to children in the foster system. Registration is $35 for the 5K; $20 for the Kids K. 8am to 10am.
  • FotoFun: Family and Youth Day at Sawyer Yards | Saturday, October 15 | FREE – FotoFest 2022 hosts an afternoon family day with fun activities through photography, film, creative writing and songwriting workshops, as well as guided tours of the Biennial exhibition, If I Had a Hammer. 11am to 3pm.
  • Fall Vibe Market at Post Houston | Saturday, October 15 | No Cover – Head to the X-Atrium inside Post for a vast fall market that features more than 100 local artists, creatives and makers doling out their wares, plus DJ Lifted will be spinning tunes and you can sip complimentary cocktails from Desert Door & Dripping Springs Distilling. Noon to 7pm.
  • Puerto Rican & Cuban Festival at Crown Festival Park in Sugar Land | Saturday, October 15 – This annual festival returns to Sugar Land, celebrating Puerto Rican and Cuban culture, with a live performance from El Chacal and a full day of concerts and dancing, food vendors, a car show, vendors and more. $15 in advance. Noon to 10pm.
  • The Upside Down Market & Stranger Things Screening at Iron Works in East End | Saturday, October 15 | No Cover – Inspired by the hit Netflix show, this themed market offers a curated selection of fashions, food, photo ops and more at the Iron Works building on Milby Street. Giveaways for Best Dressed Costumes will be up for grabs, plus you can stick around for an evening screening of a fan-fave Stranger Things episode. 2pm to 8pm.

  • Tacolandia at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou | Saturday, October 15 – Taco fans will find unlimited samples at the annual Tacolandia, held along the Buffalo Bayou with the city skyline as a backdrop. This year’s lineup of taco-slinging vendors includes Birria Tacos, Los Tios, Tatemó, Tony’s Mexican Restaurant, and more. Tickets start at $35 in advance; $75 VIP (with entry at 3pm, exclusive taco samples and more). 4pm to 7pm.
  • R.L. Boyce with Lightnin’ Malcolm in Concert at the Orange Show Monument | Saturday, October 15 – The Grammy-nominated bluesman out of Mississippi is joined by Lightnin’ Malcolm for a special performance inside the Orange Show grounds. $20. 7pm to 8:30pm.
  • Story Square’s Lit Family Festival at Discovery Green | Sunday, October 16 | FREE – The first-ever Texas Family Literacy Festival heads to Discovery Green for an afternoon of free family activities like face painting, giveaways, balloon art, performances and more. 10:30am to 6:30pm.
  • Festival en el Jardin at Houston Botanic Garden | Sunday, October 16 – Join MECA for this celebration to prepare for Día de los Muertos at Houston Botanic Garden. Create your own altar and make paper marigolds; shop with vendors selling authentic Latin American arts and crafts; and enjoy performances by the Ermelinda Cuellar Jazz Trio, MECA’s Ballet Folklórico, and Mariachi Monarcas. $15; $10 for ages 3 to 15. 2pm to 6pm.
  • Houston Dash vs. Kansas City Current at PNC Stadium | Sunday, October 16 – For the first time ever, the Houston Dash are gracing the playoffs and fans can pack PNC when they take advantage of $7 tickets, dollar hot dogs, and $3 beers for a special 7-1-3 Night in EaDo. $7 and up. 4pm.
