Witness the debut of new works from artist Barbara Able at an opening reception for her new National Park-inspired exhibit at Archway Gallery on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, Able has painted dramatic scenes of large mountains, using the alla prima (wet-on-wet) technique to build up their surfaces.

Along with the paintings, Able presents a series of collages that reveal a sprezzatura attitude or a kind of tactful carelessness toward mass media.

Alla Prima and Sprezzatura is on view through Wednesday, July 6, with the opening reception on Saturday, June 4 from 5pm to 8pm. Able will speak about her work at 6:30pm. Complimentary valet parking, refreshments, and light bites from Kam’s will be provided courtesy of Archway Gallery.
