The Shepherd School of Music at Rice presents Orchestral Fireworks, led by conductor Jerry Hou, at Stude Concert Hall on the Rice campus.

The program begins with HGO Composer-in-Residence Joel Thompson’s “shifting palette of grooves, colors, and moods” (Bachtrack) in To See the Sky, followed by Sibelius’s Symphony No. 7, which unleashes an infinite universe of emotional power in just 20 minutes.

The evening closes with the full force of the orchestra’s virtuosity in Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra.
