Celebrate the Day of the Dead with fun, interactive and commemorative activities at the National Museum of Funeral History on Sunday, November 1, 2015.
The National Museum of Funeral History will host a Dia de los Muertos celebration with activities that commemorate the lives of those who have passed.
Dia de los Muertos – also known as the Day of the Dead – is traditionally celebrated between October 31 and November 2 and marks a time when the deceased return to visit the living. Objects like candles, incense, artificial flowers, personal items, photos, food and water are often used to celebrate and welcome the dead back to earth.
Learn the ancient Latin American customs that surround this sacred holiday during an afternoon celebration at NMFH.
At the museum, you’ll be able to check out authentic altars created by local artists, leave a message for lost loved ones in the Book of the Dead and contribute a special memento to the museum’s community altar.
Kids can look forward to sweet treats and an elaborate story time with characters in costume at 3:30pm.
Halloween Season at the National Museum of Funeral History
Be sure to visit the National Museum of Funeral History throughout the season for fall activities that are fun for the whole family. Get spooked at the family friendly Haunted House and check out the interactive Myths and Legends of the Graveyard Exhibit until Monday, November 2. You can also take a gander at more than 150 classic and contemporary cars (some cars will even be dressed up) during the annual Halloween Car Show with a fall festival atmosphere on Halloween Day, Saturday, October 31.
