Spend the weekend celebrating Día de los Muertos with delicious dinners, markets, cocktails, and more at City Place in Spring from Friday, October 28 to Sunday, October 30, 2022.

City Place, the community and shopping hub in Spring, celebrates Día de los Muertos with a weekend of events that features free family and friend gatherings, markets, extravagant meals and more.

Friday Night: The 4-Course, Chef-led Black Dinner

The weekend festivities get rolling with the return of the Black Dinner, which features a four-course wine dinner crafted through a collaboration of acclaimed chefs Arnaldo Richards (of Houston-based Picos), Omar Pereney, and Mexico-based chefs Luis Robelo Richards (of Tout Chocolat) and Atzin Eduardo Santos Candia (of Limosneros).

Limited to 100 guests, the sit-down dinner is preceded by a special cocktail hour, Catrina face painting and flower crown crafts, and a candlelight procession at sunset that unveils City Place’s traditional ofrenda to honor departed loved ones.

Seatings are $150 per person, but special rates are available through an overnight stay at the City Place Marriott.

Saturday Night: Calacas & Cocktails

And on Saturday night, guests can enjoy the height of the celebration at the Calacas & Cocktails event presented by the city of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico.

Attendees can see live music and entertainment, sip on margaritas from the on-site cash bar, and take part in the second night of candlelight processions—all available at no cover. Though for $30, VIP guests will have special access to a poolside canopy at the adjacent Houston City Place Marriott, where they’ll receive a complimentary cocktail and other craft goodies.
