Celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2015 in Houston

Cinco de Mayo is back in Houston! From margs to Mexican food, cerveza to celebrations, we round up some great places to partake in this year’s revelry.

  • LULAC Cinco De Mayo Parade in Downtown Houston | Saturday, May 2 | FREE to Attend – The 23rd Annual LULAC Cinco de Mayo Parade heads to Downtown Houston, celebrating the pride, history and folklore behind the Mexicans’ victory at the Battle of Puebla. More than 100 entries will be included in the festivities. The free parade heads west down Texas from Hamilton, then weaves through downtown before ending at Preston and Crawford. Free. 10am.
  • Cinco de Midtown | Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday – Celtic Gardens, Pub Fiction, and 3rd Floor Bar are grouping together for one epic Cindo de Mayo bash. Guests can sip on margaritas, chow down on fajitas and tacos, and finish strong with time-honored tequila shots. Begins at 11am, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday. Admission is $10 and good for all three days. Purchase advance tickets at eventbrite.com.
  • El Big Bad | Saturday, May 2 – The downtown cantina hosts a daylong Cinco de Mayo Street Festival with live music, contortionists, and fire-breathers. There will be drink and food specials, as well as liquid-nitrogen-frozen margaritas. Tickets $25 and $30. 11am.
  • Pico’s | Saturday, May 2 – Pico’s hosts a parking-lot party with band Mango Punch performing. tequila tastings are available all afternoon. Tickets are $25 at the door (food only) or $50 for food and drink. Noon to 4pm.
  • Tejano on the Plaza | Tuesday, May 5 – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Jones Plaza featuring music by David Farias DF and The Windy City Boys, and La Sombra Reunion with El Unico Gavino. Jammin Frickin’ J will be spinning music all day at the downtown event. Free for 21+ before 7pm; $5 for 21+ after 7pm; $20 for under 21. 5pm to 10pm.
  • El Cantina Superior | Tuesday, May 5 – The Heights cantina hosts a Street Taco & Tequila Fest with, you guessed it, plenty of Mexican food. The parking-lot party will include Karbach beer and live bands. 3pm to 10pm.
  • Tacos and Tequila at Hotel Derek | Tuesday, May 5 – Enjoy unlimited tacos and two margs at Hotel Derek’s Revolve Kitchen + Bar for just $25. 6pm to 8pm.
