Get your practice in at Houston’s 2015 Super Bowl parties

Despite JJ Watts’ season of domination and current rising star, the Texans are still far removed from this year’s big game. But you can still get in the spirit around Houston, and join your friends and neighbors in watching the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in Phoenix.

Plus, it’s just two years until Super Bowl madness descends on us here in Houston, as we’re lined up to host Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium in 2017. So you’ll need to be in shape to get your party on.

Downtown + EaDo

  • Super Beef Sunday at Saint Arnold – Pregame for Super Bowl XLIX with BBQ and beer at Saint Arnold Brewery. Guests will sample ‘cue from CorkScrew and Louie Mueller and wash it down with cold Saint Arnold brews. $50 includes BBQ, beer and a commemorative glass. 11am to 2pm.
  • Wonder Bowl at 8th Wonder Brewery | FREE to attend – Catch the Super Bowl while enjoy the inaugural release of 2015 Brewston Texas Pale Ale and noshing on barbecue from Feges BBQ and treats from Eatsie Boys Food Truck. Noon to end-of-game.
  • Super Bowl Viewing Party Lucky’s Pub | FREE to attend – Take in the game on the 21-foot mega screen while enjoying drink specials and spicy crawfish. The Booth Pimps will spin tunes after the game.

Midtown + Montrose

  • Super Bowl Viewing Party at Brooklyn Athletic Club | FREE to attend – Enjoy happy hour drink specials all day, with distractions for outdoor sports and games. You can even throw the old pigskin yourself in the backyard. Popular foods include the award-winning BACburger and mac & cheese, along with their own take on Buffalo wings. Super Bowl party catering is also available.
  • Sundown Super Bowl Party at Proof Rooftop Lounge | FREE to attend – See the Seahawks battle the Deflate Gate blemished Patriots on the projector at Proof, while you take advantage of specials on pizza and beer. Attendance is free with an RSVP, advance table reservations are available. 4pm to 2am.
  • Super Bowl Viewing Party at Tony Mandola’s – Skip the hassle of hosting a party for the game this year, and enjoy a buffet of gulf coast fare + happy hour drink prices at Tony Mandola’s instead. $40. 5pm.

The Galleria / Uptown

  • Hotel Derek | FREE to attend – Dig into food highlighting culinary favorites of Seattle and Boston. A blackened Salmon burger with crispy shallots and a cucumber raita on toasted brioche for $12 represents Seattle, while New England is covered with a surf and turf burger, Kobe beef, truffle aioli, arugula, tomatoes and grilled lobster tail for $36. You’ll also find specials on bottles of Sam Adams for New England and Redhook ESB for Seattle.

The Heights

Oak Forest / Garden Oaks

  • The Big Game Bash at Wakefield Crowbar – Watch the Super Bowl, play football squares, enjoy complimentary beverages and more while watching the Seahawks and Patriots game at Wakefield Crowbar. $20 in advance; $25 at the door. 4pm.
