Sip on a craft beer or grab a bite from a food truck while decorating cards for soldiers at the annual Valentines for Veterans event at the Saint Arnold Brewery on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm.
It doesn’t matter if you are a hopeless romantic, planning a day with that special someone, or a cynic that will boycott the occasion altogether. This event provides Houstonians with an opportunity to support our veterans, all while having a great time.
Four years ago, the event started simply as a way to send cards and care packages to the men and women deployed overseas. Now, the event is dedicated to helping our veteran community and includes a crafting section, food trucks and a bake sale. This family-friendly event welcomes people who wish to support our veterans, crafters, former military, beer lovers and anyone who enjoys making valentines.
Blood Brothers BBQ and Taco Nuts food trucks will be parked out front with 5% of proceeds going to Expedition Balance, a nonprofit committed to helping veterans suffering from emotional trauma. Of course, you cannot have dinner without dessert. Sweet and savory items will be available for purchase from some of Houston’s most renowned pastry chefs as well as home bakers.
Valentines for Veterans costs $10 to attend, with $5 of admission and many additional proceeds benefitting Expedition Balance.
