The return of the Rodeo’s World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest and Saint Arnold’s famous One Pot Showdown, Mardi Gras happenings, and a two-week run on charitable foodie campaign Eat Drink HTX are just some of the tasty offerings to enjoy in Houston this month.

Top 11 Food & Drink Events in Houston This Month: February 2024

  • Loro & Hattie B’s Collaborative Menu at Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar | Thursday, February 1 to Sunday, February 4 Loro will be collaborating with the iconic Nashville-based hot chicken restaurant at all four of its Texas locations. Enjoy specials like the Hot Chicken Rice Bowl ($15) with Hattie B’s “medium” dark meat chicken bites, coconut scented rice, seasonal pickles, Thai herbs, chicken skin furikake, and miso comeback sauce; a Hot Chicken Sandwich ($13.50) featuring pimento cheese, pickles, miso comeback sauce, Loro slaw, and chicken skin furikake; and Oak Smoked Collards ($7) with miso cornbread crumble and “damn hot” maple syrup. 11am to 10pm; Friday and Saturday 11am to 11pm.
  • One Pot Showdown at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | Sunday, February 4 “One part chili cookoff, one part stew stampede, one part gumbo gauntlet, and ten parts Saint Arnold goodness,” Saint A’s annual One Pot Showdown invites teams to bring their best one pot recipes—using Saint Arnold beer—in an effort to secure an eternal spot amongst the One Pot champions. Tickets (known to sell out) are $45 and the event benefits Kids Meals Inc. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Brovia Wine Dinner at Ostia | Thursday, February 8 – Ostia will host its first-ever Wine Dinner, featuring legendary producer Brovia Winery. The evening will begin with light bites and bubbles in Ostia’s dining room, followed by a four-course family-style menu curated by Chef Travis McShane. A representative from Brovia will expertly guide guests through each wine pairing. $180 per person. 6:30pm.
  • Year of the Dragon Feast & Performances at Phat Eatery | Friday, February 9 to Sunday, February 11; Wednesday, February 14 Welcoming the Year of the Dragon, Phat Eatery in Katy Asian Town is bringing back its Malaysian New Year’s feast with multiple seatings on select dates. At each seating, guests can enjoy a special family-style tasting menu, plus lion dance performances by Lee Golden Dragon. $88 per person; $28 for ages 11 and under. Times vary.
  • Super Bowl Watch Party at Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House | Sunday, February 11 Catch the big game on Pier 6’s patio in San Leon, featuring big screens, coastal views, drink specials and a featured menu. Enjoy 50-cent chilled oysters during game time, $16-$20 beer buckets, $6 specialty frozens and more. Kick-off at 5:30pm.

  • Mardi Gras Party at Brennan’s of Houston | Fat Tuesday, February 13 The iconic New Orleans–born restaurant will welcome Mardi Gras revelers with a special three-course dinner, live entertainment and boisterous second line through the dining room. Folks can also start the party with a Lundi Gras Supper on Monday, February 12, honoring the King of Zulu and the King of Carnival with a special menu and roaming jazz musicians. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Mardi Gras King Cakes at Common Bond | Through Fat Tuesday, February 13 The local bakery and cafe has teamed up with Louisiana native the Hangry Houstonian and local nonprofit Sky High for Kids to offer DIY King Cake Kits and Traditional King Cakes this season. Kits run $25 and include Cinnamon King Cake, a piping bag, colored icing and toppings, plus a plastic King Cake baby. In store, personal-sized King Cakes are available through Fat Tuesday for $45 each. Kits must be pre-ordered by Thursday, February 8.
  • Eat Drink HTX at Multiple Locations | Thursday, February 15 to Thursday, February 29 – Charitable foodie campaign Eat Drink HTX—the more casual, lower price point sister event to Houston Restaurant Weeks—returns for another two weeks of good eating and drinking. Similar to HRW, participating restaurants will offer specially priced, prix fixe brunches, lunches and dinners, with donations made to the 2024 beneficiaries, the Houston Food Bank and DePelchin Children’s Center. Brunches and lunches are $15; dinner for $20 to $25. Times vary by location.
  • Houston Rodeo Roundup & Best Bites Competition at NRG Center | Sunday, February 18 – Ahead of the highly-anticipated Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo comes another hot event, the Roundup & Best Bites Competition, welcoming goodies and wine enthusiasts for one of the largest gourmet food events in the world. The special evening features more than 450 award-winning wines and over 100 signature dishes from top area restaurants and culinary institutions as guests mix and mingle, wine and dine, and vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” $165. 6:30pm.
  • World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at NRG Park | Thursday, February 22 to Saturday, February 24 – Kicking off the rodeo every year is an epic bbq weekend, the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. More than 250 teams of barbecue enthusiasts will compete for the title, and while most team tents are invitation-only, visitors can join in on the fun at several public venues, including the carnival, The Garden, Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon and the Chuckwagon. $25; $10 for ages 3 to 12; includes a complimentary sliced brisket plate with chips and beans. Times vary.
  • G&G Rodeo Smokeshow at Truth BBQ | Saturday, February 24 – Garden & Gun has teamed up with Truth BBQ, and Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey to put on an epic Rodeo kick-off event. Ticketholders can expect live music, craft bourbon cocktails, a Western goods maker market, and Lone Star-inspired menu from Truth BBQ chef-owner Leonard Botello. $85. 6pm.
