Ongoing Family Halloween Events in Houston

  • Zoo Boo at Houston Zoo | Daily through Halloween, Tuesday, October 31 – Bring the little ghouls and goblins to the Houston Zoo for some age-appropriate Halloween fun. Visit the Giant Pumpkin, ride a spooktacular Scary-Go-Round, find photo ops throughout the Zoo, walk the Lantern Tunnel between the lion and tiger exhibits, and more. Costumes are strongly encouraged. Included with general admission; ticket prices vary based on day of the week. 9am to 5pm daily.
  • Galaxy Frights at Space Center Houston | Saturday & Sunday – Explore the wonders of space with a spooky twist when Space Center hosts their annual Halloween-themed Galaxy Frights. Trick-or-treat in your best costumes throughout the Space Center, snap a pic at photo stations, take in a new kinetic light show, find your way through a black hole inflatable maze, and more. $29.95; $24.95 for ages 4 to 11; free for ages 3 and under. 10am to 6pm.

2023 Kids & Family Halloween Weekend Events

  • Scream on the Green at Discovery Green | Friday, October 27 | FREE – The free family-friendly celebration returns to Discovery Green with a night of costume contests, a dance party, roaming performers from Cirque Olympus and a lawn screening of Hocus Pocus. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Monster House Movie Screening at Levy Park | Friday, October 27 | FREE – The Greenway park hosts a free screening of the 2006 Halloween film, Monster House. Follow the misadventures of three teens who believe that an old ramshackle dwelling in their neighborhood houses a man-eating entity that is feasting on the locals. 7:30pm.
  • Haunted House at Imperial Park Recreation Center | Friday, October 27 to Sunday, October 29 – Sugar Land’s Imperial Park rec center opens its doors to little goblins for a family-friendly haunted house. A smaller walk-through area for younger kids ages 4 to 7 offers a less spooky trip, but be ready for jump and scare elements throughout the entire haunted house area. $5. 6pm to 9pm.

Saturday, October 28, 2023

  • Monster Mash Kids K/5K/10K at Karbach Brewing Company – This Halloween-themed run event sends pavement pounders in-costume through the neighborhood around Karbach in Spring Branch. Things get rolling with the 5K and 10K events, with a Kids K to take place at 9:30am, and post-race celebration throughout the morning. Registration is $50 and up for the 10K; $40 and up for the 5K; and $20 and up for the Kids K. 7:30am.
  • Fall Festival at Urban Harvest Farmers Market | FREE – Costumes are encourages at a celebration of the fall harvest, when Houston’s largest farmers market expands with free photo opps with vintage Chevy truck and fall décor, arts and crafts for kids, starter plant giveaways while supplies last, face painting, a caricature artist, and more. 9am to 11am.
  • Fall Family Day at Market Square Park Farmers Market | FREE – Costumes and spooky attire are encouraged at a special edition of Downtown’s weekly market, featuring a pumpkin patch, trick-or-treat stations, a kids craft zone, photo opportunities, live music and dancing, and more. Plus, families can take home a free pumpkin by completing a vendor bingo card. 9am to 1pm.
  • Halloween in the Park at George Ranch Historical Park – See how people in the past celebrated All Hallow ‘s Eve at the historical park in Fort Bend. Trick or treat from historic house to house, visit the pumpkin round-up in the Ranch Yard for family photos, and more. $15 for ages 13 and up; $10 for ages 4 to 12; free for ages 3 and under. 9am to 5pm.
  • Houston Symphony presents Halloween Spooktacular for Kids at Jones Hall – Across two morning shows, the costumed orchestra of the Symphony treats audiences of all ages to the tunes of familiar favorites like Harry Potter, Wednesday, Coco, Beauty & the Beast, and more. $29 and up. 10am and 11:30am.
  • Miss Ivy’s Spooktacular Halloween Party at Fort Bend Museum – This all-ages celebration offers spooky games, sweet treats, crafts, costumes and more at the Fort Bend Museum. $12; $8 for children. 10am to 1pm.
  • Halloween Classic Car Show at the National Museum of Funeral History – The annual Halloween-themed car show returns to the North Houston museum of all thing funerary. Bring your treat bag trunk-to-trunk and check out the spooky decor on a slate of classic and modern vehicles. $10 per person; $15 per couple or family. 10am to 3pm.
  • Monster Bash at Children’s Museum Houston – Celebrate Halloween weekend in the Museum District with an all-day bash featuring DJ tunes, games, a Make-a-Monster workshop, a Thriller dance performance and more. $17 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • MusicFest 2023 at Willow Waterhole | FREE – In Southwest Houston, the annual MusicFest offers a full day of live music from the worlds of R&B, blues, jazz, rock and Southern roots, plus Halloween activities like trunk-or-treating, Halloween photo ops, and a costume parade, a haunted house, food and drink. 11am to 7pm.

  • Halloween at Truck Yard | No Cover – The EaDo hot spot hosts an all-day Halloween celebration open to families until 9pm. Stop by for all-day cauldron cocktails, dog and human costume contests, fortune tellers, and more. 11am to 2am.
  • Fifth Ward Fall Festival at Lyons Unity | FREE – Held in the streets around the DeLuxe Theater, this community festival is filled with family fun like games, activities and prizes, plus live DJ and other entertainment. Adults can also tour vendor booths and take advantage of public resources. Noon to 4pm.
  • Hike, Bike & Fright Trick-or-Treat Trail at M-K-T | FREE – M-K-T in the Heights celebrates Halloween with a free, family-friendly festival that takes over the entire center. The fourth annual event will include a Trick-or-Treat Trail, an outdoor plant market featuring more than 50 local vendors, live music and performances, special deals at M-K-T shops and restaurants, a pumpkin patch photo op, and more. Noon to 6pm.
  • Howl-o-Ween at Holler Brewing Co. | No Cover – Bring your furry friend to the Arts District brewery, where their annual event will crown the next Ambassador Dog and host a pup costume contest along with dog vendors, live music and fresh brews from the tank. 2pm.
  • Trick or Treat at Pearland Town Center | FREE – The Pearland outdoor shopping center invites families to go trick-or-treating, then gather at the pavilion for a costumed concert from the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, and a costume contest to follow. 4pm to 7pm.
  • Boofest Kingwood at Town Center Park | FREE – Savor the spirit of the season in Kingwood at this family-friendly bash that features a pumpkin patch, local market, pumpkin carving, and more spooky delights. 4pm to 9pm.
  • Boo on the Bayou Halloween Festival at Allen’s Landing Park | FREE – Thorn & Moon Magickal Market helps host a Downtown marketplace on Halloween weekend. Shop more than 100 artisan vendors while you take in special performances, tarot readers, live music, food trucks and more. Dress up and vie for first prize in the costume contest, then stick around to catch a spooky movie screening and bat bridge boat tours. 7pm to midnight.

  • Kids Boo Bash at Wakefield Crowbar | FREE – The Garden Oaks volleyball bar celebrates Halloween with a Sunday morning gathering for families with face painting, spooky tunes, treats, a bounce house, games and prizes. 10am to noon.
  • Halloween Market at Karbach Brewing Co. | FREE – The Spring Branch biergarten opens up for a family-friendly bash with food trucks, spooky vendors, costume contests for kids and dogs, pet portraits and more. 11am to 6pm.
  • Halloween Town at Constellation Field – The ballpark in Sugar Land hosts another year of Halloween Town, featuring candy, vendors, a costume contest, rides, and much more. $11 and up. Noon to 4pm.
  • Halloween Spooktacular at the Bryan Museum | FREE – Dare to entertain your little ones at this free event in Galveston that features a ghostly scavenger hunt on the grounds of the Museum, fall-themed crafts, games, a photo area and more. Costumes encouraged. 12:30pm to 2:30pm.
  • 2nd Annual Island Boo Fest Trunk or Treat in Downtown Galveston | FREE – Galveston Golf Cart Society presents the return of the Island Boo Fest to downtown Galveston, featuring golf cart trunk or treat, kids costume contests, a golf cart decorating contest, a food drive, a downtown trick or treat, and more. Nonperishable food donations are encouraged for the Galveston County Food Bank. Free to attend; trick or treat open for ages 2 to 12. Decorated golf cart participation is $35. 1pm to 5pm.
  • Boos & Brews at Urban South HTX | No Cover – Sip on specialty cocktails and Halloween beers, taste through a themed menu from GastroCraft, and shop local vendors at this Halloween bash on Sunday afternoon in Arts District. 1pm to 6pm.
  • Hops & History: A Tour of Old Settler’s Cemetery Family Edition in Pearland – Families can take in a tour of the Old Settler’s Cemetery in this special edition of the history hike that departs from Vallensons’ Brewery. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and include two drink tokens. $25. 2pm.
  • Trick or Treat Trail at Rob Fleming Recreation Center | FREE – In the Woodlands, kiddos are welcome to embark on a trick-or-treat from booth to booth, filling up bags with goodies from local vendors. Expect roaming entertainers, carnival games, costume contests, photo ops and more. 2pm to 6pm.
  • USPA Centennial Cup at Houston Polo Club – Bring your ghouls and boys in Halloween costumes to a fall polo match near Memorial Park. There will be a special candy toss on the field at halftime plus a world class polo match, player parade, live music, expert announcing, and more. $18 and up. 4pm.
  • Howl-o-ween Dog Parade & Costume Contest at Levy Park | FREE – The sixth annual event will feature a pup parade around the Greenway-area park, plus a costume contest across three categories; spooky season–related, TV and movies, and coordinated costumes between multiple dogs and/or people. Plus, kiddos in costume will have the chance to walk to the catwalk. 4pm to 6pm.

Monday, October 30 & Halloween, Tuesday, October 31, 2023

  • 11th Annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat at CityCentre | Monday, October 30 | FREE – Go on a spooky stroll through CityCentre in your costume for tricks and treats. Stores and restaurants throughout the district will have goodies for the the little trick-or-treaters and be marked with a festive balloon outside their door. Then, head to the plaza for spooky DJ tunes, a witchy Halloween performance, and other fun activities. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Happy Halloween at Children’s Museum Houston | Tuesday, Halloween, October 31 – On Halloween, families can swing by the children’s museum for a day spooky DJ tunes, magic shows, storytimes, face painters and all sorts of other seasonal fun. $17 for ages 1 and up. 4pm to 8pm.
  • Boo Bash at Katy Mills Mall | FREE – Bring your ghouls, goblins, and little monsters to the AMC Plaza as Katy Mills Mall hosts a Boo Bash with trick or treating in a family-friendly environment. 5pm.
  • Halloween Boo Bash at Humble Civic Center | Tuesday, Halloween, October 31 | FREE – This fourth annual event features live performances by local dance and drill teams, face painting, inflatables, a costume contest and plenty of candy. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Trick or Treat Trail at Independence Park | Tuesday, Halloween, October 31 | FREE – Families can take to this 19th annual event in Pearland, where local businesses and organizations will line the “trail” to pass out candy and other goodies. 5:30pm to 8pm.
