Sip on classic margaritas or tequila cocktails with a twist at these Houston-area restaurants and bars for National Tequila Day on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Mondays don’t have to be all bad, and with National Tequila Day falling upon us on Monday, July 24, you can start the week off on a tequila-kissed note with any of the 20 cocktail offerings you’ll find below.

From Houston mainstays to inventive twists on the classic margarita, these restaurants and cocktail bars are serving up some of the tastiest tequila drinks around—and you can score them this Monday for National Tequila Day.

Axelrad in Midtown/Third Ward

Pull up to the neon garden of backyard patio bar Axelrad for their National Tequila Day offerings like the Landing Strip (pictured above), a spicy affair with Serrano-infused tequila, Ancho Reyes chile, mezcal, pineapple, agave and lime; or cool off with a Frozen Paloma, blending tequila, grapefruit and lime.

Original Ninfa’s on Navigation & Uptown

Both locations of the Tex-Mex mainstay celebrate the tequila holiday with the Original Ninfarita, featuring a proprietary marg mix with agave tequila blanco and agave syrup, available frozen or on the rocks for $11, or by the pitcher for $37.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse on Washington Avenue

The eclectic cocktail bar and pizzeria have two solid offerings on deck for National Tequila Day; pour up a Hellfire Margarita with tequila, triple sec, agave, lime juice and hellfire shrub for $11; or try the Pamplemousse Paloma (pictured above), which blends Hornitos Blanco tequila with pamplemousse liqueur, fresh grapefruit, fresh lime, agave and coconut soda for $12.

Treebeards on Bunker Hill

The Memorial City outpost of the Houston Southern comfort eatery features two offerings for the day; kick it off with the Blackberry Ginger Margarita (pictured above), which tops Exotico Tequila with ginger syrup, lime, agave and Mathilde Cassis for $10; and check out the Tequila Mockingbird for $12, which blends Exotico with basil, Aperol, St. Germain elderflower liqueur and grapefruit.

Willie’s Grill & Icehouse at Multiple Locations

With several locations that loop around Beltway 8, the family-friendly American grill is offering El Jefe, a traditional margarita on the rocks that blends Patrón Silver and Patrón Citrónge, along with a variety of other marg flavors.

Mandito’s Tex-Mex in Bellaire

Celebrate the tequila holiday with happy hour specials at the Bellaire Tex-Mex diner from 2pm to 5pm. El Happy Hour features 8 items for $8, including the House Margarita (pictured above), served on the rocks or frozen, with Combier Orange Liqueur, fresh lime juice, agave syrup and a smoked salt rim; or a delicious Paloma which tops Arette Tequila Blanco with Fever-Tree grapefruit soda, grapefruit juice, fresh lime juice, simple syrup and a black lava salt rim.

Molina’s Cantina at Multiple Locations

Both locations of this classic Houston restaurant are offering up a Molina’s Margarita for just $6.50 all day long. You can also get them to-go, on the rocks or frozen, for $50 per half-gallon.

Daily Gather at CityCentre

The CityCentre restaurant serving up New American fare will also pour up two creative offerings for Tequila Day; the Spicy Margarita (pictured above) is available for $13 and builds on Lalo Blanco tequila with Dolfi orange liqueur, fresh lime, jalapeño and agave; or try El Gran Diablo, a mix of Hornitos Blanco tequila with Bruxo Mezcal, agave, fresh lime, ginger beer and blackberry liqueur, also for $13.

Phat Eatery in Katy Asian Town

The Malaysian eatery helmed by James Beard Semifinalist Chef Alex Au-Yeung will offer a Southeast Asian twist on the classic marg with the Lychee Margarita that blends Espolon tequila with lychee and Thai basil, Grand Marnier and lime, available for $10 with a spicy version for $1 more.

Hongdae 33 in Asiatown

One of the newest Korean BBQ venues to hit Dun Huang Plaza in Asiatown, Hongdae 33 offers a slate of tequila-laced cocktails that join their soju-focused signature drinks. Take a sip on the Sour Apple Tequila (pictured above), mixing tequila with sour apple, lime, agave and Sprite for $10; or go for the pineapple-flavored Azalea Margarita or Margarita Classic for $10 each, and the peach schnapps and grenadine-kissed Hot Lips for $8.

Dish Society at Multiple Locations

From Cinco Ranch to the heart of the Heights, the multiple outposts of Dish Society will serve up two fun flavors of tequila cocktails, available at half-price during social hour from 2pm to 6pm. Try the Prickly Pear Frozen Margarita (pictured above) for $10, with larger sizes and carafes available, or sip on a Spicy Strawberry Margarita for $10, which blends Socorro blanco, jalapeño, and strawberry puree with a Tajin rim.
