This month sees fall festivals begin to roll in, alongside show-stopping concerts, the return of the Texans, and more.

  • Mid-Autumn Festival at Asia Society Texas Center | Saturday, September 3 | FREE – Celebrate the arrival of the fall season at the Mid-Autumn Festival—also known in Asia as the Moon Festival or Lantern Festival—that welcomes the autumn harvest and full moon. The event will feature Taiwanese artists and photography, Vietnamese storytelling, and art activities that include lantern-making, paper cutting, and faux mooncakes. Free with advance RSVP. 11am to 2pm.
  • Polish Harvest Festival at Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church | Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 11 | FREE – The annual celebration of the traditional Polish harvest season returns with plenty more food, drink and cultural entertainment in the Spring Branch area. Though free to attend, food and drink is on you. Times vary.
  • Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium | Sunday, September 11 – The Texans open the 2022 NFL season at home against division rivals from Indy. $69 and up. Noon.
  • Lady Gaga in Concert at Minute Maid Park | Tuesday, September 13 – Mother Monster comes to Houston in support of her cyberpunk and house music–infused smash 2020 release, Chromatica. $56 and up. 7:30pm.
  • El Grito featuring Son Rompe Pera at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, September 15 | FREE – Fiestas Patrias kicks off with the annual Grito ceremony at Miller Outdoor, featuring Mexico City’s Son Rompe Pera performing contemporary cumbia centered on the sounds of the marimba. 7pm.
  • Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park | Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 18 – This four-game series opens with Teacher Appreciation Night, followed by Hispanic Heritage Weekend with special jersey giveaways, fireworks, a sugar skull bobblehead, a street fest, and more. $23 and up. Times vary.
  • Houston Home & Garden Show at NRG Center | Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September 18 – Gather everything you need for your next home improvement project, from products and consultations with industry experts to local vendors and informative panels. $8; free for ages 16 and under. Times vary.
  • Houston Blues & Jazz Festival at Multiple Locations | Weekends from Saturday, September 17 to Sunday, September 25 | FREE – Across two weekends in September, venues across Houston host world-renown names in jazz, including hard bop greats Nellie McKay and the Cookers at Miller Outdoor Theatre, Frank Lacy and Bayou City Funk at Axelrad, bassist and Prince collaborator Mono Neon at 713 Music Hall, and Houston-native Diunna Greenleaf and Eric Gales at the Rustic in Downtown. Shows across the first weekend are free; other shows are $35 each. Times vary.
  • Galveston Island Shrimp Festival at Saengerfest Park | Friday, September 23 & Saturday, September 24 – Fill up on gumbo, shrimp and Gulf Coast eats at this annual festival that kicks off with a Friday night party, followed by a Saturday morning 5K, cook-off competition, a rum punch contest, vendors along the Strand, and more. Prices for events vary, but Saturday’s popular Gumbo Stroll tasting event starts at $13 in advance; $16 day of. Times vary.
  • Karbachtoberfest 2022 Kick-Off at Karbach Brewing Company | Friday, September 23 & Saturday, September 24 | No Cover – Running three full weekends (from Friday to Sunday), Karbachtoberfest is back with live music, stein hoisting competitions, wiener dog races and the brewery’s Bavarian-style marzen (lager), Karbachtoberfest. Times vary.
  • 86th Annual Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo in Rosenberg | Friday, September 23 to Sunday, October 2 – Through the first Sunday in October, this 10-day fair and rodeo features carnival rides, BBQ competitions, concerts, a farmer’s market, a crawfish boil, a fishing tournament, and much more. Season passes are available for $40; single day admission is $15 at the gate; $5 for ages 6 to 11; free for ages 5 and under. Times vary.
  • Sugar Land Fall Fest at Sugar Land Town Square | Saturday, September 24 | FREE – Kick off the fall season in Sugar Land with this free afternoon festival featuring live music, food, dance and cultural performances, art demos, hayrides and more. Food and drink specials will also be available at Sugar Land Town Square restaurants. 10am to 3pm.
  • Wu-Tang Clan & Nas in Concert at Toyota Center | Saturday, September 24 – Hip-hop prophets Wu-Tang Clan are bringing Nas and big apple vibes to the H on their New York State of Mind Tour. $39.50 and up. 7pm.
  • Houston Dash vs. OL Reign at PNC Stadium | Saturday, September 24 – The Dash’s final home game of the regular season arrives in late September, just as the squad gears up for its first ever playoff push. $12 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Takuache Festival Houston at Sports Creek | Sunday, September 25 – Celebrate National Latin Heritage Month in East End featuring live music from bandas and grupos all day long, local vendors and food pop-ups, ice cold micheladas, and more. Advance tickets start at $10. Noon to 9pm.
