Located just north of Downtown in the Woodland Heights, Kaboom Books packs a whopping 76 different sections/sub-sections of books into its rather humble shop.
The cozy shop features pre-owned books including fiction, literature in its various guises, art, history, social and physical sciences, and also hosts events on its patio.
Previously located in the back of the French Quarter, the owners spent more than 30 years acquiring their collection while owning a succession of bookshops in New Orleans.
Today, though the location is different, Kaboom’s purpose is the same as ever: to provide an inventory of ideas and act as a sounding board for social discourse within, now, the confines of Houston’s hundreds of neighborhoods.
In addition to their never-ending selection, Kaboom also regularly hosts engaging events, art shows, and readings with authors and artists alike.
