- Drake and Future in Concert at Toyota Center | Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4 – Give a warm welcome back to Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling Drake –who’s hot off the release of his latest album, Views. For two nights this month, the Summer Sixteen Tour takes over Downtown Houston in what’s sure to become a sold-out show. Rapper, singer, songwriter, and Drake collaborator, Future will also be performing in this co-headlining show. Tickets start at $49.50, not including ticket fees. 6:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
- The Kills in Concert at White Oak Music Hall | Friday, September 9 – Formed in 2000 out of Andover, England when the two primary songwriters bonded over a mutual obsession with the Velvet Underground, the Kills have made a career out of the very garage-punk leanings that got them started. In 2016 the Kills find themselves on the verge of releasing their fifth proper album with little signs of slowing down. Tickets start at $23.50, not including ticket fees. 8pm.
- Cyndi Lauper in Concert at Revention Music Center | Sunday, September 11 – American singer, songwriter, actress, and LGBT activist, Cyndi Lauper is back and she’s bringing her songbook of hits to Downtown Houston. Hear hits like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, “Time After Time”, “She Bop”, and “All Through the Night”, amongst many others when Lauper tears the roof off of the Revention Music Center (formerly Bayou Music Center). Tickets start at $61, not including ticket fees. 7pm.
- Dinosaur Jr. in Concert at White Oak Music Hall | Thursday, September 15 – Fronted by the distinct guitar of J Mascis, this noisy trio out of Amherst, Massachusetts became known in the 90’s for their brand of indie-rock when Mascis and bassist Lou Barlow took their speed metal abilities and leaned heavily into their psychedelic pop influences. Hear all of Dinosaur Jr’s feedback-induced hits in the newly-opened White Oak Music Hall on the Near Northside of Houston later this month.Tickets start at $22, not including ticket fees. 8pm.
- Tegan & Sara in Concert at Warehouse Live | Friday, September 16 – Born in Calgary, Tegan and Sara began their musical path in 1995 when the identical twins began collaborating at the age of 15. Currently residing in Vancouver, BC, the duo in 2016 have released their eighth studio album Love You to Death which has been greeted with high praise from fans and critics alike. Both within and outside of their prolific musical careers, the group have become known as outspoken advocates of equality in the LGBT community. Tickets start at $36, not including ticket fees. 7pm.
- Cass McCombs in Concert at White Oak Music Hall | Tuesday, September 20 – Thought to be one of today’s premier songwriters by critics, Cass McCombs has spent the better part of the last decade twisting and redefining his style between records to the delight of fans. His latest record, Mangy Love, dives, this time, down into the depths of classic soul, at times straight-ahead rock, and psychedelia with a resulting album that further proves McCombs is in a league of his own. If one thing remains consistent with each album it’s that Cass is having fun and sounds himself even while exploring uncharted territory. Tickets start at $12, not including ticket fees. 7pm.
- Beyoncé in Concert at NRG Stadium | Thursday, September 22 – Fresh of her debut of Lemonade, welcome Queen B back to Houston and watch her perform live as part of The Formation World Tour at NRG. Tickets start at $45, not including ticket fees. 7:30pm.
- Alabama Shakes in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Saturday, September 24 – The Grammy-winning American blues rock band out of Athens, Alabama return to Houston by way of the Woodlands this month. The 4-piece group, lead by the booming vocals of guitarist and songwriter Brittany Howard, have skyrocketed to fame since their humble beginnings in 2009. After a long touring cycle throughout the steep upward trajectory that has been their career, the band released their second record, Sound & Color to critical acclaim. Tickets start at $30.50, not including ticket fees. No lawn seating is available for this performance. 6:30pm.
