Travel back to fictional River City, Iowa in 1910 when the Art Park Players presents a the classic musical comedy, The Music Man, at Deer Park Municipal Court from Friday, July 7 through Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Picking up on the lead in of Independence Day, the rousing production of Meredith Willson’s all-American classic musical is bursting with a cast of 45 talented local performers.
The beloved show and musical theater mainstay follows fast-talking salesman Harold Hill who spells out “trouble” in his best sales pitch as he cons the people of River City into organizing a boys’ band, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef.
Harold doesn’t count on falling in love with the town librarian however, and what ensues is a fast-paced romantic comedy for the whole family.
The show features multiple musical theater stables, including “Seventy-Six Trombones” “Ya Got Trouble (in River City)”, “Gary, Indiana”, “The Wells Fargo Wagon”, and—familiar to Family Guy aficionados—”Shi-Poop-I”.
