• 19th Annual Wine & Food Week in the Woodlands | Daily – This year’s Wine & Food Week celebrates the creativity found in the heart of the wine and food industry. Attendees can expect hundreds of wines, chefs from across Houston and beyond, and an emphasis on the arts with experiential art installations, plus meet and greets with award-winning and emerging artists. Events include a Flavors of Australia Wine Dinner & Kickoff (Monday, June 5), Rose’ Way, A Sweet Soiree (Thursday, June 8), the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase (Saturday, June 10), and more. • Comedian Arnez J at Houston Improv | Daily – The Atlanta-native comedian brings his energetic, laugh-out-loud, and profanity-free material to the stage at West Houston’s Improv across four nights. $70 for 2, and up. Times vary.
• Barnstorm Dance Fest 2023 at MATCH | Thursday to Saturday – This multi-day dance festival celebrates a diversity of dance styles, includes 19 performances and nine dance films. Plus, you can hear from the artists themselves after select performances. $25. 7:30pm daily; an additional Saturday performance at 5pm.
• Immanuel & Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival at University of Houston | Thursday & Saturday – The multi-week festival returns with a series of masterclasses, conferences and concerts. Professional musicians and music lovers alike will find much to explore, with highlights including festival orchestra concerts on Saturdays, performing the work of Beethoven, Prokofiev and more; a series of piano concerts on Tuesdays; and more must-see performances. Individual tickets are $20; tickets for concert series and full festival pricing is also available. 7:30pm.
• The Riot Comedy Club presents Michael Longfellow at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – One of the newest castmembers on Saturday Night Live, Michael Longfellow brings his Tourfellow to the Riot Comedy stage for back-to-back nights. $20 and up. 7pm and 9pm.

• After Dark Experience at Department of Wonder | Friday & Saturday – The Sugar Land attraction keeps their doors open after hours, allowing adults 21+ to experience a whimsical world of immersive fantasy while they enjoy complimentary cocktails (non-alcoholic available). $60. 7pm to 10pm.
• ISHIDA Dance Company presents having been breathed out at Asia Society Texas | Friday to Sunday – This concert features the world premiere of ISHIDA’s American Gothic, which explores the internal and external dynamics of the nuclear family. It also brings two rarely seen works stateside, Horizons by Greek choreographer Adonis Foniadakis and the critically-acclaimed Mutual Comfort by Edward Clug of Romania. $40 and up. Friday & Saturday 8pm; Sunday 3pm.
• 2023 Summer Flea at Silver Street Studios | Saturday & Sunday – Shop a curated market of one-of-a-kind collectibles, jewelry, vintage, art, mid-century modern furniture, and more while you enjoy a full bar and local eats. $5. 10am to 5pm.
• Otaku’s Summer Matsuri Food & Anime Festival at Karbach Brewing Co. | Saturday & Sunday | FREE – Calling all anime enthusiasts to this two-day summer celebration from Otaku Food Festival, featuring more than 50 food and drink vendors serving delights from across the Asian continent, plus anime vendors and voice actors, photo ops and all-day entertainment. Saturday noon to 10pm; Sunday noon to 6pm.
• The Texas Tenors: Music from Stage & Screen at the Grand 1894 Opera House | Saturday & Sunday – The three-time Emmy Award–winning classical crossover trio comes to Galveston for a live performance of recognizable tunes and familiar favorites. $30 and up. Times vary.

Ongoing Live Theater & Performing Arts in Houston

• Houston Ballet presents Swan Lake at Wortham Center | Thursday, Saturday & Sunday | Opening Weekend – Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet meets Stanton Welch’s towering choreography in this enduring love story. When Odette is turned into a swan, the love she shares with Prince Siegfried is tested, especially when the evil knight Rothbart and his black swan enchantress Odile come onto the scene. $25 and up. • The Servant of Two Masters at Alley Theatre | Friday to Sunday | Opening Weekend – This world premiere adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s commedia dell’arte masterpiece is set in Venice where mayhem erupts after the servant Truffaldino devises a scheme to double his wages by serving two masters at the same time. This production runs through Sunday, July 2. $40 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Main Street Theater for Youth presents Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder at MATCH | Saturday | Opening Weekend – The irrepressible Junie B. has a loose tooth and it’s freaking her out. Suppose she looks like her toothless uncle? Her existential struggles don’t end there—she’s the only one in class not invited to a birthday party. How will she cope? With hilarity and heart, of course. This production runs through Sunday, July 30. $20 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Wicked at Hobby Center | Daily | Ongoing – This re-imagined story of the witches from Oz has become one of Broadway’s most-loved stories. With themes of the power of friendship and the courage to be different, this musical is a modern classic. $54 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Fairview at 4th Wall Theatre Company | Daily | Ongoing – This winner of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama explores assumptions and biases on race and identity, seen through the lens of the Fraisers, a middle-class American family preparing to host a dinner party. $32 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Catastrophic Theatre presents A Maroon’s Guide to Time & Space at MATCH | Daily | Ongoing – Candice D’Meza’s play is a genre-bending experiential exploration of quantum mechanics that uses imagination to liberate oneself from the confines of linear time. Pay-what-you-can. Showtimes vary.
• The Best of Everything at Main Street Theater | Daily | Ongoing – Catch this new adaptation of Rona Jaffe’s 1958 bestseller about ambitious secretaries in the big city. $10 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Stages presents Drag Wonderettes at the Gordy | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – The Marvelous Wonderettes gets a new twist, with this high drag performance featuring songs you know and love from the 1960s like “Stupid Cupid,” “The Shoop Shoop Song” and more. $30 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Music Box Theater presents The Greatest Hits Album Side B: Moving Boxes at Queensbury Theatre | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – The cabaret troupe celebrates the move to its new home in CityCentre with an evening of jazz, pop, rock and Broadway tunes from the 1960s through the ‘90s. $38 and up. • Dirt Dogs Theatre presents August: Osage County at MATCH | Friday & Saturday | Final Weekend – Unsettling secrets and repressions rear their heads as the Weston family gathers in the wake of the disappearance of their patriarch—and harsh truths open old wounds. $30. Showtimes vary.

Fantasy Worlds, Pride Guide & Other Destinations

• Department of Wonder in Sugar Land | Daily | Ongoing – Step into an immersive mixed-reality fantasy that blurs the boundaries between physical and digital reality. Equal parts theater, arcade, art gallery, theme park, and escape room, the all-ages experience is a collaborative quest that’s hard to put into words. You’ll also find a special 21+ and enhanced experience with cocktails on Friday and Saturday, and a toddler-specific guided play session Thursday and Friday mornings. • Dr. Joshua Furman: Antisemitism in the Archive at Menil Drawing Institute | FREE – The Rice University professor comes to the Menil campus to explore how Jewish Houstonians faced instances of antisemitism from the 20th century to present day, as well as the ways the Jewish community have fought against forms of prejudice to create a more open and welcoming city for all Houstonians. 6pm.
• Dining in the Dark: Global Tastes at Mastrantos – Surprise the senses by testing your taste buds at a unique Dining in the Dark experience, where guests will explore tastes from around the globe while blindfolded. The 90-minute sessions are $80 per person. 6pm and 8:30pm.
• Galvezton, with Darwin’s Finch in Concert at Menard Park | FREE – From the team behind La Izquierda Music Festival, this Save the Locals Summer Concert Series in Galveston offers a weekly lineup of local and regional bands for free shows while basking in the summer sounds of the beach. 6pm to 9pm.
