Take in the arrangements and mementos of a President’s passing at the George H.W. Bush Memorial exhibit at National Museum of Funeral History (NMFH)—part of our Explore the NMFH series.

Making its NMFH debut on Presidents’ Day in February 2020, the George H.W. Bush Memorial exhibit honors the lives of the 41st President of the United States and his wife, Barbara.

Part of the permanent exhibition includes a miniature replica of the famous “4141” funeral train that made its way from Spring to College Station where the former president was laid to rest after his final funeral in Houston. Notably, Bush, who was fascinated by trains, asked for the train to be part of his funeral arrangements, which took a total of nine years to plan.

Visitors can also explore memorabilia from both of their funerals, including tribute cards and memorial folders, and read the eulogy scripts given by the President’s granddaughters.
