As Galveston transforms into Winter Wonder Island, Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn Waterpark offer chances for visitors to get into the holiday spirit with stunning ice sculptures, aerial acrobatics, surfing Santas, and a twinkling festival of lights.

Ongoing Events

Through January 2019, Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn Waterpark have a slate of events guaranteed to get holiday-goers in the spirit of the season.

  • Holiday Splash at Schlitterbahn Galveston Waterpark | Through Sunday, December 30 – Houston’s only indoor waterpark makes waves this holiday with appearances by Surfing Santa, Bahn Borealis light show, holiday friends, meal packages, and more. Tickets start at $24.99 for children, $29.99 for adults. Open 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens | Through Sunday, January 6 – Brighten up your holiday season at the Festival of Lights in Moody Gardens, which features a mile-long trail of more than one million lights and illuminated scenes with views of Galveston Bay. The family-friendly mainstay also offers an outdoor skating rink, vendors serving hot chocolate and festive food, and live entertainment. Tickets start at $5.95. Times vary.

  • Ice Land: Pole to Pole at Moody Gardens | Through Sunday, January 6 – Journey from the North to South Pole, surrounded by sculptures expertly carved from over two million pounds of ice by a skillful team of ice artists. Walk through a frozen forest of polar bears, penguins, humpback whales, snowy owls, walrus, reindeer and glide down the giant glacier slide. If you’ve worked up a thirst, satisfy it with a festive holiday drink inside an igloo at Shivers Ice Bar. Tickets start at $16.95 for children, $21.95 for adults. Times vary. 
  • Cirque Joyeux Noel Dinner Show at Moody Gardens | Friday, December 21 through Friday, January 4 – This astonishing circus show features a cast of international cirque and variety performers from around the world. Enjoy a plate from Chef Felipe Gonzalez while marveling at the theatrical feats of acrobats, magicians, and aerial artistry. Tickets start at $63, with matinee tickets available beginning at $33. Times vary.
