One of the original cornerstones of the Theater District, Jones Hall opened in 1966 and now serves as the home of the Houston Symphony and Society for the Performing Arts (SPA), as well as host to traveling performers, comedians, and more for over 400,000 annual visitors.

Most of the events that take place at Jones Hall feature the Houston Symphony performing classical works, orchestral takes on popular music and film scores, or accompanying world-renowned popular musicians. With the ability to accommodate video projections for multimedia performances, Houston Symphony also provides live scoring for film screenings, including Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more.

Jones Hall’s capacity holds as many as 2,911 attendees across four levels of seating, including boxes on either side of the performance hall. Early arrival is encouraged as there are sometimes pre-performance activities, including pre-concert conversations with Musical Ambassador Carlos Andrés Botero, or the popular instrument petting zoo during Family Series performances.

Around the bright red carpeting of the multi-tier lobby, guests can enjoy a meal of sandwiches, pasta, and salads at the Encore Café, grab a wine or other beverage at the multiple drink stations, or pre-order for intermission to save time on expected waits.

Parking & Getting There

Parking can be found at the underground Theater District garage, which provides tunnel access to Jones Hall. Several other garages in the nearby vicinity can be used for Jones Hall performances, as well. Street parking can also be found but it tends to fill quickly on performance nights.

MetroRail features a Green and Purple line station within a brief walk from Jones Hall. It is recommended to arrive at least a half hour ahead of your scheduled performance to ensure time for parking and accessing the venue.
