Make the most of your week with our top festivals, events, and things to do this week in Houston from Monday, March 11 to Sunday, March 17, 2024.

This week, celebrate Spring Break with plenty of fun things to do for the family around town, catch multiple days of space-themed activities and concerts at Space Center Houston, put on your green for Saint Patrick’s, and wrap up the 2024 Houston Rodeo.

  • Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo 2024 at NRG Park | Daily | Final Weekend – Houston’s biggest bash wraps it up, closing out three weeks of Western fun for all ages, including carnival rides, livestock displays, shopping, a wine garden, food and more. Check out the concert lineup and secure your seats, or go for the thrill of the festival with a grounds-only ticket, available for $20; $10 for ages 3 to 12 (carnival rides and games are an additional cost). Times vary.
  • Spring Break at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft | Monday, March 11 toFriday, March 15 | FREE – Every day, the craft museum on Main Street will host hands-on activities, letting participants ages 3 and up explore craft and art making through different materials, tools and techniques. Activities take about a half hour and include crafts like polymer jewelry, circle weaving, traditional Ukrainian painting on egg ornaments, natural dyes, and collage. 10am to 1pm.
  • NestFest 2024 on Galveston Island | Tuesday, March 12 | FREE – Join hundreds of volunteers and help clear the beaches of marine debris ahead of sea turtle nesting season at several spots along the Galveston shore, including Bolivar Peninsula, Galveston Island and Follet’s Island. Registration required. 9am to noon.
  • Rodeo Houston: Bun B All-American Takeover at NRG Stadium | Tuesday, March 12 – The Trill O.G. has taken over the entire city of H-Town and now he’s set his sights on the Houston Rodeo once again. The full lineup hasn’t been released yet, but we have heard the names of Nelly, E-40, Rick Ross, and That Mexican OT—plus a rumored Drake appearance. $25 and up. 9pm.
  • Moon 2 Mars Festival at Space Center Houston | Wednesday, March 13 to Sunday, March 16 – This week-long festival at Johnson Space Center celebrates the innovations that power space exploration with looks at cutting-edge space tech, immersive experiences and astronaut appearances, plus four days of live concerts to round out the festivities. This year’s performers include Houston’s own Ancient Cat Society, Gio Chamba, Selena covers from Bidi Bidi Banda, DJ Flash Gordon Parks, and the All-American Rejects. $34.95 and up; $29.95 for ages 4 to 11; free for ages 3 and under.

  • 19th Annual Pi Day Celebration at Children’s Museum Houston | Thursday, March 14 – It’s an epic celebration of Pi Day (3/14) with the annual pie fight at Children’s Museum Houston, plus a full day of activities, including science demos, bungee trampolines, a pie walk, crafts and more. Pie fight is at 2pm. $17 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 8pm.
  • Sasha Colby at House of Blues | Thursday, March 14 – The drag superstar and winner of the 2023 season of RuPaul’s Drag Race comes to Downtown Houston for a journey through her life with all its deep valleys and triumphs. $35.50 and up. 8pm.
  • Super Freak: The Rick James Story at Hobby Center | Thursday, March 14 to Sunday, March 17 – Starting with his turbulent life in Buffalo, follow James with his signature braids and leather as he comes into his own as the King of Punk Funk—but not without sex, drugs, and music. Hear hits like “Give It to Me Baby,” “Mary Jane” and “Super Freak.” $43 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Shop Local Market presents Kids Fest at Houston Farmers Market | Friday, March 15 | FREE – Young local entrepreneurs are the spotlight for this exciting small business event showcasing the talents of up-and-coming kid entrepreneurs, artists, and makers. Join the fun with Break Free Hip Hop School, kids crafts and activities on the Market’s green space. 11am to 5pm.
  • 63rd Annual Houston St. Patrick’s Parade & Celebration at Post Houston | Saturday, March 16 | FREE – The annual parade hits the streets of Downtown, winding around Market Square Park toward Post for an award ceremony. All afternoon long, Post will host family-friendly activities with games, food, Irish performances, an outdoor market, live music and more. Noon to 4pm.

  • Rodeo Houston: Brad Paisley at NRG Stadium | Saturday, March 16 – One of country music’s best-selling, chart-topping, showered-in-awards singers, Brad Paisley returns to the Rodeo stage to close out Saturday night. Tickets start at $25, but you may find hard-to-get seats using the online marketplace. 5pm.
  • Brian Stokes Mitchell in Concert at the Grand 1894 Opera House | Saturday, March 16 – The two-time Tony Award winner comes to Galveston with a bevy of classic tunes from Broadway, opera, film and more. The so-called “Last Leading Man” will perform hits from Kiss of the Spider, Jelly’s Last Jam, and Shuffle Along, among others. $41 and up. 8pm.
  • Griff’s St. Paddy’s Weekend Block Party at Velvet Oak Tavern | Saturday, March 16 & St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17 – While the Montrose mainstay Griff’s continues to rebuild following a devastating fire, they’ve joined forces with Velvet Oak Tavern on West Alabama to celebrate the holiday with an all-day Irish crawfish boil with live music, Irish dancers, DJs, food and more. Proceeds from the event go to help rebuild the Montrose institution which caught fire in early 2023. No cover on Saturday; $10 on Sunday. Noon to 2am.
  • Saint Patrick’s Day at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17 | No Cover – Houston’s oldest brewery throws another St. Patrick’s Day bash at the beer garden with beer, delicious eats, live entertainment and more, plus the return of the annual Donegal Beard Growing competition. 11am to 11pm.
  • St. Patricks’ Day Party at Sam Houston Race Park | St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17 – Buck Yeager and a live bagpiper headline this Sunday Funday series at the horse racing park, along with beer from Eureka Heights and grub courtesy of Texasiana food truck. Clutch City Crawfish will also be on-site, plus you can take in fun family activities like a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, and arts and crafts. $5; free for ages 5 and under. 12:30pm to 5pm.
  • Houston Music City Forum 2024 at Off The Record | St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17 | FREE – With appearances by DJ Flash Gordon Parks and Gracie Chavez, this evening event invites author Shain Shapiro to discuss their latest book, This Must Be the Place, and the impact that music can have on city economies. 4pm to 7pm.
