Lunar New Year Festival at the Chinese Community Center | Saturday, February 1 | FREE – Celebrate the Year of the Snake at this event for all ages that includes performances, food and drink, shopping and other cultural programming that showcases the heritage of Asia. 10am to 4pm.

Black History Month Across Greater Houston | Daily – Already strong in Black community and culture, February in Houston is packed with events big and small, formal and fun across the greater metro. Notable entries include celebrations at Trebly Park and Market Square Park in Downtown, Houston Children’s Museum and Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, The Ensemble Theatre’s production of Camp Logan, Buffalo Soldiers Museum’s series of talks and presentations, and more.

The ReelAbilities Houston Film & Arts Festival Around Houston | Sunday, February 2 to Sunday, February 23 | FREE – ‍Celebrating the lives, stories and talents of people with disabilities, ReelAbilities starts off with events highlighting the workplace, people, and more, before screening 4 nights of films from Thursday, February 16 to Sunday, February 19, followed by nights dedicated to live music and community arts. The Empire Strips Back: A Burlesque Parody at Silver Street Studios | Wednesday, February 5 to Sunday, March 30 | Ongoing – After performing to sold out crowds in Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, LA, and Detroit, the 18+ parody drops classic Star Wars characters into the world of burlesque—scantily clad and seriously sultry. Future dates available. $54 and up. Showtimes vary

16th Annual Galveston Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K at Stewart Beach | Sunday, February 9 – Race along the seawall—no sand running—in this qualifier for the Boston Marathon. $115; $95 half marathon; $50 5k. 7am to 11:30am.

Valentine’s Day Events Around Greater Houston | Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 16 – Leading up and lasting through Valentine’s weekend, there’s no shortage of potential date nights, ways to meet other singles, dine out, dine in and more. Menardi Gras! 2025 at 1838 Menard House | Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14 – Launch into the Mardi Gras season at the site of the island’s original Fat Tuesday party back in 1856. The night features drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and live music by New Orleans Hustlers Brass Band, performances by Cirque La Vie, and more. $100 and up. 7pm to 9pm.

Star Party at the Park at Clay Family Eastern Glades in Memorial Park | Saturday, February 15 | FREE – Knowledgeable astronomers from Houston Astronomical Society will be onsite to guide guests through a viewing of the constellations, planets, and other celestial objects. Bring your own telescope, binoculars or download the free Stellarium  app onto your mobile device for a closer look at the cosmos. 7pm to 10pm.

Eat Drink HTX Around Greater Houston | Saturday, February 15 to Friday, February 28  From the team behind Houston Restaurant Weeks, the food fundraiser Eat Drink HTX returns for a 2-week run this month. The campaign features casual and fast-casual restaurants around the city, with lower price point sets for prix fixe brunch, lunch, and dinner menus in benefit of the Houston Food Bank and Kids’ Meals. This year’s roster of participants includes favorites like Gristworkz, Be More Pacific, Craft Pita, Kin Dee Thai Cuisine, Kriti Kitchen, Maine-ly Sandwiches, Ramen Tatsu-Ya, and more. Times vary.

Mardi Gras! Galveston on Galveston Island | Friday, February 21 to Fat Tuesday, March 4 – The third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S. features two weeks of parades, balls, balcony parties, live music, and colorful celebrations, culminating on Mardi Gras day itself. There are family-specific and all ages parades, plus adults only bacchanals. There some free events, but most official activities in the Mardi Gras district are included in the $15 admission; free for ages 12 and under. Times vary.

Champs Sports Run Club Houston at Memorial Park | Saturday, February 22 | FREE with RSVP – Champ Sports kicks off 2025 with a major Run Club event at the park, inviting runners to unite, celebrate, and get bonus goodies. It starts with a scenic 5K run—also known as 3.1 miles—along Memorial Park’s beautiful trails, led by local Houston runners. Afterwards, stick around to cool down and enjoy live, high energy DJ sets, complimentary breakfast, drinks, light bites, and a chance to win amazing prizes, including a $250 shopping spree at Champs Sports. 8am to 11am.

Houston Crawfish Kickoff Festival at Guadalupe Plaza Park | Saturday, February 22 – Launch into crawdad season at a festival filled with crawfish, music, drinks, dancing, games, food, live music, at more at the East End Park at the head of Navigation Boulevard. $10 and up. 3pm to 9pm.

Winter Festival: Year of the Snake at MFAH | Sunday, February 23 | FREE – The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston hosts a family-friend, Lunar New Year-inspired winter celebration, with fiery drummers, K-Pop and other musical performances, lion and dragon dancers, hands on activities, tasty food from East Asian cuisines from local vendors, and more. 1pm to 5pm.

2025 Rodeo Uncorked! Roundup & Best Bites Competition at NRG Center | Sunday, February 23 – Before the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo takes over town, the Roundup & Best Bites Competition brings foodies and wine enthusiasts together for one of the largest gourmet food events in the world. Over 450 award-winning wines and more than 100 signature dishes will be on display, and guests can chat with chefs and winery representatives while helping decide who takes home the “People’s Choice Award.” $165. 6:30pm.

World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at NRG Park | Thursday, February 27 to Saturday, March 1 – The epic barbecue weekend kicks off the Houston Livestock Show & Rode, with more than 250 teams of barbecue enthusiasts competing for the title. Team tents are invitation-only, but visitors can also join in on the fun at several public venues, including the carnival, The Garden, Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon and the Chuckwagon. $26; $10 for ages 3 to 12 and include a complimentary sliced brisket plate with chips and beans.
