  • Exploring Lunar New Year at MATCH | Daily – Check out Houston Arts Alliance Folklife + Traditional Arts’ Lunar New Year installation at MATCH. The multi-sensory experience will include calligraphy, costumes, music, paper cutting, audio and video elements, lion dances and more for the whole family. Starts at noon daily.
  • Tony Deyo Live at Joke Joint Comedy Showcase | Friday and Saturday – Head to Joke Joint Comedy Showcase to see hilarious stand up from Tony Deyo. $16; limited comped and discounted $8 tickets available. 8pm and 10:30pm both nights.
  • Yaga’s Chili Quest & Beer Fest in Galveston | Friday and Saturday – The annual Chili Quest and Beer fest – hosted by Yaga’s Café in Galveston – is back again for a day full of chili sampling and beer tasting. Don’t miss the Kick Off Party or the Beerfooter Fun Run. Tickets start at $15. Friday 8pm to 10pm; Saturday 10am to 6pm.
  • Blue Man Group at Jones Hall | Friday to Sunday – The theatrical phenom Blue Man Group is bringing their show to Houston for an entertaining evening full of comedy, music and more. Tickets start at $48. Friday 7:30pm; Saturday 2pm and 7:30pm; Sunday 2pm and 7pm.
  • Narnia The Musical at National Youth Theater | Friday to Sunday – See the story of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe unfold during a performance of Narnia The Musical at the National Youth Theater. Tickets start at $10. Friday 7pm; Saturday and Sunday 2pm and 6pm.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebrations around Houston | Friday to Monday | Many FREE – Whether you’re in the mood for somber reflection or spirited celebration, there’s plenty going on this weekend in celebration of Dr. King.
  • Illusionist Ivan Amodei at The Four Seasons Hotel | Saturday and Sunday – Witness the talented Ivan Amodei at work during an intimate show of illusions at the Four Seasons. $65 to $75; limited discounted $25 to $55 tickets available. Saturday 4pm and 7pm; Sunday 2pm and 6pm.

  • Friday Night Sights: Suchu Dance at Discovery Green | FREE – Suchu Dance will give a performance of original choreography inspired by the Field of Light installation at Discovery Green. 7pm.
  • Mirrors for Princes Opening at the Blaffer Art Museum | FREE – Attend the opening of the Mirrors for Princes exhibition from Slavs and Tatars art collective – which is concluding its five-city tour with a stop at the UH Blaffer Art Museum. The opening event begins with a performance-lecture and continues with a reception and viewing of the exhibition. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Houston Symphony Concert at Dunham Theater | FREE – Enjoy a concert featuring Copland’s Billy the Kid, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 and Houston Symphony conductor Teddy Abrams’ Fiddling performed by the Houston Symphony at HBU’s Dunham Theater. Reservations are required. 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
  • Paula Poundstone Live at the Wortham Center – Laugh out loud during this show from stand-up comedian Paula Poundstone at the Wortham Center. Tickets start at $40. 8pm.
  • Light Up The Night at MATCH – Welcome the newly opened Midtown Arts & Theatre Center Houston to the neighborhood during this block party featuring food, comedic entertainment, film screenings music and a photo booth. $20 in advance. 8pm.
  • Houston Rockets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers at Toyota Center – Cheer for the Rockets as they take on the Cavs at home. Tickets start at $20, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8:30pm.
