- Wild Pear Running’s Christmas in July 8K at Independence Park in Pearland – The 2nd annual run event from the Pearland running shop returns with finishers medals, participant shirts, and a post-race party. In addition to the 8K event, a Kids 3K and virtual race options are available. $45; $20 for Kids 3K. 7am.
- Lunar Landing Family Fun Run at Clear Lake Recreation & Community Center – Celebrate the anniversary of the July 1969 lunar landing with this family-friendly 5K and Kids K that winds around the area surrounding the Clear Lake Recreation and Community Center. $40 advance registration for the 5K, $15 for the Kids K; registration increases on race day. 7:15am.
- Free Train Rides at Zube Park in Hockley | FREE – Hop aboard for a ride from the Houston Area Live Steamers when they fire up their large-scale model railroad in Hockley’s public park. 9am to 1pm.
- Kids’ Summer Yummy Cooking Classes at Phoenicia Specialty Foods in Downtown – Let the little chefs learn about all the elements of a party before they make and decorate a homemade cake, assemble a pizza, and top it off with cookies and hand-churned ice cream. Then they’ll stick around at MKT Bar, where they’ll feast, watch cartoons, and have fun. $60 per child. 10am to noon.
- Lemonade Day at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE – Bring the kiddo in your life out for a fun-filled morning where they’ll learn how to start, own, and operate their own business—a lemonade stand—at Lemonade Day at Sugar Land Town Square. 10am to 6pm.
- Nature Walking Tour at the Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park | FREE – Learn about the importance of prairies and their fragile ecosystem while on a walking tour in Buffalo Bayou Park’s the Water Works that highlights the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston. 10:30am to noon.
- Main Street Theater presents Junie B.’s Essential Survival Guide to School at MECA at TBH – The irrepressible Junie B. Jones is back, offering her wisecracking brand of wisdom about how to get by in the classroom. This family-friendly musical is recommended for kindergarten ages and older. $22. 10:30am and 1:30pm.
- Beaulympics Cajun Carnival at Beaumont Civic Center | FREE – Get in the Olympic spirit at a free Cajun festival and summer games event featuring music, food and drink, gator races, reptile yoga, eating competitions, face painting, highland games, kayak lessons, a snow machine, a chance to win BMT swag, and more. 11am to 5pm.
- Basement To Attic Tours of the 1892 Bishop’s Palace – Get a unique view of Galveston history with a top-to-bottom look at a historic landmark that includes areas that would be typically off-limits. $30 and tours are limited to eight people. 11am to 12:30pm.
- NE Yeast Homebrew Tasting at City Acre Brewing Co. | No Cover – Vote for your favorite beer made by home brewers pining for a chance to win a spot on City Acre’s tap wall. Noon to 3pm.
- Tamale Making Class at Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen – Owner Sylvia Casares will teach the ancient art of tamale making with a fun, hands-on cooking class held at the 1140 Eldridge Parkway location. Participants will learn how to make pork and chicken tamales. $65 per person. 1pm.
- Downtown Houston Pub Crawl at Market Square Park | No Cover – Drink your way around Downtown after meeting at Market Square Park, where you’ll receive your punch card and learn your route when Saint Arnold’s Brewery hosts a pub crawl around Downtown. 2pm to 6pm.
- First Saturday Arts Market in the Heights: Rain Date | No Cover – Due to heavy rains the first weekend of July, the Houston’s original monthly arts market pops up on the third Saturday of the month, featuring artisan goods and artworks from local artists and vendors. There will be free live music, food truck bites, plus beer and vino available for purchase. 6pm to 10pm.
- BYOB Galveston Harbor Sunset Tours on Seagull II – Grab your favorite drinks and hop aboard an adult-friendly, two-hour evening cruise to toast the sunset. $35. 6:30pm.
- CONCACAF Gold Cup: Honduras vs. Panama, Grenada vs. Qatar at BBVA Stadium – The bi-annual regional soccer tournament returns, with group stage action in Houston that includes a tough match between Honduras and Panama as they take center stage. $30 to over $200, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 6:30pm.
- Mike Zito Big Band Album Release, with Indigenous at the Heights Theater – The chart-topping blues guitarist and songwriter takes to the stage on the heels of a brand new release, Resurrection, following up his 2020 free-to-download album, Quarantine Blues. Blues band Indigenous, led by Mato Nanji, opens the show. Tickets start at $24. 7pm.
- The Riot Comedy Show presents Erik Bergstrom at Rudyard’s British Pub – Laugh yourself silly during two sets from famed comedian and cartoonist, Erik Bergstrom, known for his appearances on Comedy Central , MTV, his New Yorker cartoons and more, when The Riot Comedy Show welcomes the New York City comedian upstairs at Rudyard’s British Pub. $15. 7:30pm and 10pm.
- Family Funk Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Virtual Option – Community Music Center of Houston celebrates the popular funk era of the 1970s with hits from Parliament, Funkadelic, George Clinton, and more performed by Vivian Mosley and her band, the Storm. Then Tweed Smith, of legendary funk band War, will perform some of the band’s greatest hits. 8:30pm.
- Bad Bunny Night at Warehouse Live – Dance the night away during a Bad Bunny-themed night featuring favorite trap and reggaeton hits at Warehouse Live. $12. 9:30pm.
- Z-Ro, K-Rino, K.O. at Scout Bar in Clear Lake – The Mo City Don and K-Rino team up for a night of legendary Houston rap at the Clear Lake venue, featuring tracks from Z-Ro’s most recent release, 2 The Hardway. Advance tickets are $25, $30 at the door; $50 for a reserved table. 10pm.
