- Lagoonfest Texas in Texas City | Daily – Cool off at the largest lagoon in the state during a summer celebration destination boasting white sand beaches, bars, boats, live music, an electric ferry, a catapult swing, the largest floating obstacle course in the USA and more, at Lagoonfest Texas in Texas City. Single day passes are $20; $15 for ages 3 to 12; free for ages 2 and under. Ticket prices vary based on the day of the week and demand. 10am to 7pm daily.
- Stages presents Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar &Grill | Thursday to Saturday | Virtual Option – Billie Holiday is at the end of her career, performing at a Philadelphia dive bar and sharing stories about her iconic life. This knock-out Tony winner includes more than a dozen Billie Holiday hits like “Crazy He Calls Me,” “Easy Living, ” and “Strange Fruit.” Livestream is available via Overture+. $25. Times vary.
- Megaton Brewery in Kingwood | Friday & Saturday | No Cover – Sip on delicious local brew while taking in the sleek, steampunk-influence decor as well as three decades of homebrew experience at Megaton Brewery in Kingwood. Times vary.
- ComedySportz Family-Friendly Improv Show at Preston Theater | Friday & Saturday – Laugh out loud with the family when ComedySportz Houston presents their fast-paced improv comedy show that’s suitable for the whole family, now performing at Preston Theater in EaDo. Two teams will battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes, games, and songs on the spot with audience participation. $20, but limited discounted $10 tickets are available for all shows. 8pm both evenings.
- Comedian Nicole Byer at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – Welcome the raunchy and hilarious actress and comedian, Nicole Byer, known as host of Netflix’s baking show Nailed It and her podcast, Why Won’t You Date Me, when she stops through the Houston Improv for five shows. $50 for two people; $100 for four people; $150 for six. Showtimes vary.
- Music Box Theater presents 10 Year Anniversary Show | Friday & Saturday – Celebrating both the re-opening of its cozy Colquitt Street home and its 10th anniversary, this cabaret features a musical tribute to favorite songs and funny moments from the last decade. Seating is limited to 60% capacity. $35; $48 for reserved seating. Performances at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays; 2pm on select Sundays.
- Comicpalooza 2021 at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday & Sunday – Get decked out in your favorite hero costume and head Downtown for a weekend of cosplay, autographs, and all-things-comics. Enjoy family-friendly activities, listen in on live panel discussions, shop from local creators, browse pop culture memorabilia, and much more. One-day adult passes are $61 for Saturday; $54 for Sunday. Children’s passes are $5 and good for the whole weekend (ages 12 and under). Times vary.
- Break Free Day Market at Pasadena Convention Center | Saturday & Sunday | No Cover – Shop small during a two-day market featuring local art, vintage items, food vendors, and more when Shop Local hosts the Break Free Day Market at the Pasadena Convention Center. 11am to 6pm both days.
- 13th Annual Juried Exhibition at Archway Gallery | Daily | FREE – Explore prize-winning works and original creations from area artists at one of Houston’s best-known artist-owned spaces at Archway Gallery in this juried exhibition judged by artist, Wayne Gilbert. The exhibition will be on display through Thursday, August 4, 2021. Times vary.

- Miller Virtual Series: Express Children’s Theatre presents Rhyme & Reason | FREE | Virtual – Learn about Black history from ancient Africa to today with this virtual program that features music, dance, and poetry from Houston Poet Laureate emeritus, Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton, and members of her slam poetry team. 10am.
- Steak & Pint Night at Lucky’s Pub West | No Cover – Get your fill of delicious steaks when Lucky’s Pub West hosts its Steak & Pint night with an option of steak and fries for lunch or ribeye and 2 sides for dinner. - Jurassic Park Movie Screening at CityPlace | FREE – Step into a prehistoric world when you bring the family out to CityPlace in Spring for an outdoor screening of the 1993 timeless Spielberg movie, Jurassic Park, about a real life world of dinosaurs gone wrong when a theme park experiences a power outage. Free with RSVP. 8am.
- Date Night Cooking Class at Brennan’s – Executive chef Matt Staph will lead an interactive dine-in, in-room cooking demonstration in this special Date Night Cooking Class in Midtown. $150 per couple and seating will be communal. 6:30pm.
- WWE Friday Night Smackdown at Toyota Center – Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks, and other Smackdown superstars return to Houston in a Friday Night event televised live on Fox. $20 to $120, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 6:45pm.
