• HC Theatreworks presents Les Misérables at the Dunham Theater | Daily – The Southwest Houston theater hosts a live production of the beloved adaptation featuring students of Houston Christian Theatreworks. Jean Valjean’s journey from a paroled ex-convict to a transformed man seeking redemption sets the stage for a narrative rich in societal critique, personal struggle, and the enduring power of love. $15 and up. • The Riot Comedy Club presents Adam Ray at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – The upstairs Montrose stage welcomes the comedian and actor who’s notched roles as Jay Leno in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy and Vince McMahon on Young Rock on NBC. $25 and up. 7pm and 9pm.
• Eat Drink HTX across Houston | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – This sister event to Houston Restaurant Weeks offers specially priced, prix fixe brunches, lunches and dinners at casual dining concepts, while raising funds for Houston Food Bank and DePelchin Children’s Center. $15 for lunches and brunches; $25 for dinners. Locations vary.
• 2024 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – The annual, round-robin collegiate baseball classic highlights Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and includes festivities like a free college fair on Saturday, plus an HBCU celebration ($100), and a gospel breakfast on Sunday ($25). Game tickets are $10 per day; $27 for all games. 11am to 9pm.
• Flying First Ward at Spring Street Studios | Friday to Sunday – Marvel at an aerial circus show that combines the vibrant energy of live music from Marcus Maroney with awe-inspiring acrobatic feats. $25 and up. 6pm.
• College Baseball: Rice Owls vs. Notre Dame at Reckling Park | Friday to Sunday – The Owls open the spring season against the Fighting Irish. $18 and up. Times vary.
• Houston Grand Opera presents The Big Swim at Asia Society Texas Center | Friday to Sunday – As part of the Lunar New Year festivities, this contemporary fable world premiere production fuses diverse influences into a single, compelling whole to tell the story of how the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac were placed in order. $40. Friday 7:30pm; Saturday and Sunday 2pm.
• Opera in the Heights presents The Light in the Piazza at Lambert Hall | Friday to Sunday – This Tony Award winner for Best Original Score follows an American tourist that falls in love with a local man while on an Italian vacation with her mother. $29 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Stages presents Laughs in Spanish at the Gordy | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – Combine a swanky modern gallery and an active crime scene set in Miami for a complicated evening at the Montrose theater. This production runs through Sunday, March 17. $25 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Galentine’s Waffle Stack Brunch Special at State Fare Kitchen & Bar in Memorial City, Sugar Land & The Woodlands | Saturday & Sunday – The divine brunch treat returns for its final weekend. Diners can enjoy delicious strawberry shortcake waffles stacked and served with fresh strawberries, vanilla infused whipped cream and puréed strawberry drizzle for $17. Sit at the bar and enjoy happy hour prices all day. 10am to 4pm.
• 2024 Lunar New Year Festival at Viet Hoa Center | Saturday & Sunday | FREE – Celebrate the Lunar New Year with back-to-back days of festivities, including appearances by city officials, red envelope ceremonies, dancing and music, lion dance performances, and much more. 10:30am to 6pm.
• Los Hermanos Rosario at Arena Theatre | Saturday & Sunday – Toño Rosario and his brothers offer a night of the iconic merengue band across back-to-back nights filled with almost 50 years worth of hits. $60 and up. 8:30pm.
• Black Art Houston at Multiple Locations | Saturday to Monday | Many FREE – This citywide celebration of contemporary Black art is a weekend full of exhibition tours, interactive workshops, artist open studios and much more. The three-day event is held at many major institutions like Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; Community Artists’ Collective; Houston Museum of African American Culture, and many others. Most experiences are free, and you can view the schedule of events at the MFAH website or through partner institutions. Times vary.
