Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year, which means the celebrations will continue for six days. Dress up for a costume party, take the kids to see a movie or go trick-or-treating, cheer for the Rockets, celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, party all night at a pub crawl, dress up for a 5k and more.

Things to Do All Halloween Weekend

  • Halloween Events and Parties Around Houston | Daily – Get spooked at events all weekend long, from Hotel Galvez Ghost Tour Dinners in Galveston to the HMNS Spirits & Skeletons party, Zoo Boo and Scream on the Green. Times, locations, and prices vary.
  • Halloweekend at White Lightning’s Haunted Saloon in Humble | Thursday through Saturday Humble Texas dancehall with a Vegas twist is featuring three days of drink specials, finished off by the largest cash costume contest in Texas on Saturday night. The winner will go home with $5000. Cover varies. 8pm to 2am nightly.
  • Frightening Forest Tours at Aunique Gypsy Horse Ranch | Friday and Saturday – Bring the kiddos out to the Aunique Gypsy Horse Ranch for a ride on the magical wizard wagon or conjuring caravan through the forest to catch a glimpse of witches, ghosts, and skeletons. There’s plenty to do after the tour, including pumpkin putt putt, the monstrous maze, and evil eye bounce. Tickets start at $15. 6pm both nights.
  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show Movie Screening at River Oaks Theatre | Friday and Saturday – Stay up all night to “do the timewarp again” in costume at one of two midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in River Oaks. $11. Midnight both nights.
  • Houston Astros vs L.A. Dodgers in the 2017 World Series: Viewing Parties & Home Games | Friday, Saturday and Possibly Beyond – Cheer on the Astros to #EarnHistory as they battle the Dodgers at home and abroad (not Texas). Street festivals at Minute Maid Park precede all games, with free game viewings for away games and pricey tickets for home games. The first team to make it to four wins the series and the title 2017 MLB World Champions. There will definitely be home games on Friday and Saturday. If needed, there will be a home game in Houston, before the series moves back to Los Angeles to wrap up. Help Houston win. Dates and times vary slightly, but most start just after 7pm. First run tickets are sold out, but you can still find hard-to-get tickets on TicketNetwork’s resale market.
  • 7th Annual Midtown Spookfest | Friday, Saturday and Tuesday – Get all dolled up in your costume and roll over to Midtown for three full nights of partying that will span over three bars – 3rd Floor, Irish Cowboy, and Pub Fiction. $10. Friday 3pm to 2am; Saturday 10:30am to 2am; Tuesday 3pm to 2am.
  • Biggest Bounce House in the World at Houston Sports Park | Friday to Sunday – Jump around in a massive 10,000 square foot inflated castle, coined the largest bounce house in the world, at Houston Sports Park. Tickets start at $5. Friday 1:30pm to 7:30pm; Saturday and Sunday 8am to 7pm.
  • Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo | Friday to Sunday – Bring your little ghouls to the Houston Zoo for fall festivities including the pumpkin patch, candy corners, monster mural, creature maze, and monster mashquerade. Included with admission. Friday 9am to 1pm; Saturday and Sunday 9am to 4pm.
  • Monster Margarita Festival in Kingwood | Saturday and Sunday – Sample a Monstrous selection of tequilas and margaritas, take a salsa dancing lesson, shop goods from local vendors, and grab a bite from a food truck at the Monster Margarita Festival at Kingwood Town Center. Tickets start at $10. Noon to 6pm both days.
  • Something Wicked Festival at Sam Houston Race Park | Saturday and Sunday – Dance all night at this two-day EDM festival featuring artists like Tiesto, Above and Beyond, Marshmello, RL Grime and more at Sam Houston Race Park. This year’s theme is The Asylum. Tickets start at $99.95. Saturday 3pm to 2am; Sunday 3pm to 10pm.
  • Dia De Los Muertos Festival at MECA Houston | Saturday and Sunday – Respecting the differences in Latin celebrations of Dia de Los Muertos, this celebration focuses on the common theme of honoring family and friends through two days of music, dance, food, and visual arts at MECA’s Dow School in the Sixth Ward. 11am to 7pm both days.
  • 2-Day Halloween Bar Crawl in Midtown & Downtown | Saturday and Tuesday – Get dressed up and hit the town on Saturday or Tuesday (or both!), crawling from bar to bar across Midtown and Downtown. $10; limited discounted $5 tickets available.

  • The Great Pumpkin Hunt at Bellaire Parks and Recreation Bring your kiddos, aged 10 and under, in costume to compete in The Great Pumpkin Hunt at the Bellaire Great Lawn for candy and other prizes. 4:30pm.
  • Happy Hour Thursdays at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston | No Cover Stop by the MFAH for some tasty cocktails, food truck bites, and check out the latest exhibits, including the new Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta. Museum admission is always free on Thursdays. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Ghost Tour Dinners at Hotel GalvezGet spooked as you roam through Hotel Galvez’s haunted rooms and then relax a bit as you sit down in the Galvez Bar and Grill for dinner. $56. 6pm.
  • Hamilton Loomis in Concert at Market Street | FREE – Jam to live music from Hamilton Loomis at Market Street in The Woodlands. 6pm.
  • Houston Culinary Stars at the Houston Chronicle Event CenterSample creations from the top 100 restaurants in Houston, as ranked by the Houston Chronicle, at this annual culinary event. Tickets start at $100. 6:30pm to 9pm.
  • Balls at Stages Repertory Theatre The classic face off between tennis players Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs at the Astrodome gets a theatrical twist in this production of Balls at Stages Repertory Theatre. Tickets start at $25. 7:30pm.
  • Sender at The Rec Room Rec Room Arts presents Sender, a regional premiere of a raucous new comedy by Ike Holter that follows the story of a millennial who is presumed dead and returns to his friends, family, and social media a year later. $25. 8pm.
  • Feathers and Teeth at Studio 101Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company presents this bone-chilling yet wildly funny play about a thirteen year old girl who is determined that her father’s new fiancé is evil. A mysterious creature is found in their backyard and the girl takes it as a sign to eliminate the new woman in her father’s life. $25; limited discounted $12.50 tickets available. 8pm.
