713-228-6737|houstongrandopera.org

One of the country’s leading opera companies, Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has a six-show season that blends beloved operas like La boheme with world premieres such as Nixon in China, performed by at the Wortham Theater Center by the world’s great singers, conductors, and designers.

The organization is dedicated to education, outreach, and training the next generation of singers. The Houston Grand Opera Studio is an audition-only training program giving emerging opera singers coaching and opportunities to sing on stage.

Many studio artists such as Jamie Barton, Denyce Graves, and Ana Maria Martinez have gone on to have major operatic careers; audiences consider these stars as Houston’s own, offering thundering applause when they’re back on the HGO stage.

Through its community arm, HGOco, the company also presents performances for children and families around the city.
