  • Earth Day Mural Unveiling & Concert at Houston Botanic Garden | Monday, April 22 – The South Houston gardens celebrates Earth Day with the unveiling of their new “Wild Texas” mural by artist David Cobb, which stretches 300 feet along Sims Bayou. Stick around after the ceremony to catch a live set from Canadian pop singer Charlotte Cardin. $12.50; $8 for ages 3 to 15. 10am to 12:30pm (park hours are 9am to 5pm).
  • 12th Annual Friends of Moody Gardens Herb Fair at Moody Gardens | Wednesday, April 24 | FREE – This annual Galveston event brings together more than 40 local vendors selling interesting crafts, art, food and other items. The day will also include a luncheon with guest speaker, poetry and musical entertainment, and a celebration of wines. 9am to 2pm.
  • Mami Wata Movie Screening at Houston Museum of African American Culture | Wednesday, April 24 | FREE – HMAAC offers a screening of the 2023 black-and-white fantasy thriller film based on West African folklore. Premiering at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival (where it won an award for cinematography), the story revolves around an African village whose harmony is threatened by outsiders, and the two sisters who fight to save their people. 7pm.
  • Chicano Batman in Concert at White Oak Music Hall | Thursday, April 25 – Jam out to the Latin rock sounds of Chicano Batman when the LA-based rock band brings their fifth album, Notebook Fantasy, to Northside. $32.50 and up. 7pm.
  • The Father at 4th Wall Theatre Company | Thursday, April 25 to Sunday, April 28 | Ongoing – This 2014 Moliere Award Winner for Best Play opens a three-week run, telling the story of Andre, who navigates aging as confusion sets in and his reality constantly shifts around him. $15. 7:30pm.

  • 19th Annual Frida Festival at The Storyhive | Saturday, April 27 | FREE – Celebrate all things Frida Kahlo at an East End festival featuring lively music, performances, vendors, food trucks, and plenty of people dressed up as one of Mexico’s most beloved and legendary artists. 11am to 7pm.
  • Houston Plant Swap at Eureka Heights Brewing | Saturday, April 27 | FREE – The monthly plant swap returns to the Heights brewery with free biodegradable seedling pots for you to take home, along with a variety of herb seeds for planting. Swing by and explore more than a dozen vendors, try your hand at plant raffles, and chill with tasty craft brews. Noon to 3pm.
  • Houston Brew Fest at Discovery Green | Saturday, April 27 – Beer fans can enjoy an afternoon of craft beer tasting from over 50 breweries, plus food trucks, lawn games and live music at the Downtown park space. $50 and up. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Kane Brown in Concert at Toyota Center | Saturday, April 27 – The chart-topping country artist swings by Downtown with his In The Air Tour, celebrating his current No. 1 hit, “Thank God.” Special guests include Tyler Hubbard and Parma Lee. $49 and up. 7pm.
  • Urban Cowboy Hoe Down at Sam Houston Park | Saturday, April 27 | FREE – Friends of River Oaks Theatre take to the historic Downtown park for a free screening of Urban Cowboy, along with pre-movie dancing and a performance by Sam Turner and the Cactus Cats. 7pm to 10pm.

  • Philly Soul Sound Vol. 4 at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, April 27 | FREE – One of Miller’s most anticipated annual shows sees a collection of harmony groups bring to life the prominent music of the ’60s and ’70s, with hits like “Love Train,” “Me and Mrs. Jones,” and more. 8:15pm.

  • MECA’s Dia del Niños Theater Festival at MECA Houston | Sunday, April 28 | FREE – The historic Sixth Ward school hosts a special theater fest for Día del Niños, featuring a lineup of children’s plays performed in English, Spanish and French. Plus, there’s art activities on hand, delicious snacks, bounce houses and an art showcase. 1pm to 8pm.

  • Chicago at the Grand 1894 Opera House | Sunday, April 28 – This iconic award-winning showstopper is set to deliver fame, fortune and all that jazz at the Galveston opera house, showing why it has claimed multiple Tony Awards, two Oliver Awards and a Grammy. $34 and up. 2pm and 7pm.  
  • USPA Western Challenge at Houston Polo Club | Sunday, April 28 – Don your best straw hat as these high-goal teams go head-to-head in this highly anticipated match. Stick around for the champagne divot stomp at halftime, live music, player parade, a special trophy presentation, and the crowning of the winner of the Best Straw Hat contest. $18 and up. 5pm.

  • Queen of the Night: A Tribute to Whitney Houston at Bayou Music Center | Wednesday, April 3 – A dazzling vocalist and full band celebrate the life, legacy, and countless hits of the legendary vocalist Whitney Houston when Queen of the Night takes over the Downtown arena. $35 and up. 8pm.

  • The Riot Comedy Festival at Rudyard’s Pub | Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7 – More than 50 comedians descend on the Montrose pub for a weekend of comedy across three stages, plus a street carnival, beer and cocktails and tasty eats. Headlining talent includes Rocky Dale Davis, Robert Kelly and Kim Congdon—not to mention a slate of Houston’s funniest comics, podcasters and more.   • Comedian Gary Owen at Houston Improv | Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7 – The beloved comic was proclaimed as “Black America’s Favorite White Comedian” by Ebony magazine, and now returns to the Spring Branch laugh house for the first of two weekends of laughs. $90 for 2, and up. Times vary.

  • Pearland Holi Extravaganza at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, April 6 – A huge Holi celebration descends on Pearland to kick off April, complete with plenty of color play, DJs, games, kids activities, and a market featuring food, shopping and local vendors.   • Houston Oyster & Seafest at Buffalo Bayou Park | Saturday, April 6 – The Galveston Bay Foundation hosts this annual event, featuring more than 15 Houston restaurants, each offering up dishes where the oyster is the star. There’s also music, cocktails, exhibits and more. $35 and up. 11:30am to 2:30pm.
  • 5th Annual Crawfish Cook-Off at Cactus Cove | Saturday, April 6 – The Heights bar and grill hosts its 5th edition of the crawfish cook-off, featuring a day of cold beer, games and live music.
