The Night Shift Before Christmas at The Alley Theatre | Daily – Margot’s working all night at a fast-food joint on Christmas Eve. But a strange transformation begins to take place as she encounters a variety of characters. This retelling of A Christmas Carol stars the incredible Briana J. Comedian Jamie Lissow at Punch Line Houston | Thursday to Saturday – Known for his weekly appearances on Fox’s evening talk show Gutfeld!, Lissow has also starred in the Netflix series Real Rob and appeared on The Tonight Show, The Late Late Show, Last Comic Standing, and more. He’ll be playing 4 shows over 3 nights on Downtown’s newest comedy stage. Times vary.
Comedian T.J. Miller at Houston Improv | Thursday to Saturday – The “one man philosophy circus” has been in Deadpool and starred in Silicon Valley, amongst countless other films, and makes a weekend stop at the Improv. $50 for 2, and up. Times vary.
The British Arrows 2024 at MFAH | Friday & Saturday – Catch the 2024 90-minute screening of award-winning advertisements from the United Kingdom, a rapid-fire roller coaster of shorts, spoofs, and celebrity guests. On Friday night, enjoy a traditional Pimm’s Cup to get in a proper British mood. $9; $7 for members, students with ID and 65+. Future date available. 7pm both nights.
Comedian Zainab Johnson at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – The stand-up comic, actress, and writer—whose comedy is based on a unique point-of-view, shaped while growing up as one of 13 siblings in a black Muslim family in Harlem—plays the stage upstairs at Rudyard’s for 3 live shows. $20 and up. Times vary.
51st Annual Dickens on the Strand in Downtown Galveston | Friday to Sunday – Travel back in time as Galveston’s historic Strand is transformed into Charles Dickens’ Victorian London for a big, crowd-pleasing, all ages Christmas festival. Gear up for parades, live entertainment on six stages, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers, and a visit from the characters of Dickens’ books. Free on Friday; Saturday and Sunday tickets start at $20; $13 for ages 7 to 12; free for ages 5 and under. Times vary.
The Nostalgia Con Houston at George R. Brown Convention Center | Friday to Sunday – Tap into your 1990s and early 2000s pop culture memories with 3-days of appearances by cartoon voice actors from shows on Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, animators and artists, a vendor market, and more. $35 single day pass on Friday and Sunday; $40 Saturday; $90 3-Day Pass. Catastrophic Theatre: Love Bomb at MATCH | Friday to Sunday – Brian Jucha’s world premiere is about, well, let’s say, taxi dancers. Even if it isn’t. It is about what people will do for love, and it features music by ‘70s folk pop star Melanie (think “the Roller Skates song”). Pay-What-You-Can; $35 suggested. Showtimes vary.
4th Wall Theatre Company: Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike at Spring Street Studios | Friday to Sunday – Christopher Durang’s comedy is the story of middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia, living an uneventful life in Pennsylvania. Then, their sister Masha shows up with her much-younger love, Spike. Chaos ensues. $32 and up. Showtimes vary.

A Very Sinatra Christmas Special at Marriott Marquis Houston – Catch a swinging Christmas concert with one of Texas’ best jazz vocalists covering the songs that Frank loved to sing in his acts during the holidays, including “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “I’ve Got the World on a String,” “Let It Snow,” and more. American Aquarium with Lou Hazel in Concert at Warehouse Live Midtown – The alt-county sextet out of Raleigh performs live on the rooftop stage, with folk artist Lou Hazel opening the show. $25. 8pm.
City Birds Fly South Comedy Show at The Secret Group – Up and coming Chicago comedians Lyssa Laird and Jamie Shriner bring their unique perspectives to the EaDo stage. Laird shares her journey from being a single mom to a single MILF, while Shriner uses humorous original songs to discuss her hearing loss and mental illness, and struggles with body image. $15; $20 day of show. 8pm.
Houston Rockets Watch Party at Bombshells Pearland | No Cover – Cheer on the Rockets as they face off against the Golden State Warriors, joined by Clutch the Bear and Rockets Entertainment at the team’s official watch party. Party starts at 8:30pm; tip off at 9pm.

Sexyy Red at Toyota Center (Canceled) – Cast your vote for Sexyy when 97.9 The Box brings the Sexyy Red 4 President party to Downtown, where she’ll share the stage with artists like Hunxho, Loe Shimmy, BlakeIANA, BeatKing, Erica Banks and maybe even a special surprise guest. Rescheduled from August 31. $67 and up, but you may find cheaper or better seats on the resale marketplace. 7pm.
Silent Night Disco at Market Square Park | FREE – Slip on a pair of glowing headphones and choose from multiple DJ-curated playlists featuring holiday classics, upbeat hits, and wintery vibes at this weekly family-friendly holiday season pop-up. This week places the focus on today’s Top 40 hits pitted again those from the ’90s & 2000s. 7pm to 9pm.
Latin Christmas at Cullen Performance Hall – Led by maestro Glenn Garrido, the Houston Latin American Philharmonic returns for their traditional concert of seasonal works from the world of Latin American music. The Story So Far in Concert at Bayou Music Center – The California pop-punk band lands in Downtown Houston on their I Want To Disappear in the USA Tour, in support of their latest album. $20 and up. 8pm.
An Aaron Watson Family Christmas Concert at The Heights Theater – Packed full of Christmas classics and songs from his critically acclaimed Christmas album of the same name, singer-songwriter Aaron Watson performs a live set to put you in the holiday spirit. $38 and up. 8pm.
Jimmy Brown in Concert at The Secret Group – The K-Pop, R&B and hip hop artist known for “I Got You,” “Irene,” and “You Don’t Know” performs on the intimate EaDo stage on his Love II tour, with Ethan Low opening. $35 and up. 8pm.
Girl In A Coma in Concert at Last Concert Cafe – The indie, all-girl rock outfit out of San Antonio plays at the landmark concert venue and Tex Mex restaurant in Downtown’s Artist Warehouse District. Pinkie Promise opens. $20. 8pm.
Blasterjaxx DJ Live Set at Noto – The Dutch DJ and production duo, composed of Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf, bring their big room house and electro tracks to the East Downtown hotspot. $15 and up. 10pm to 2am.

18th Annual Texas Classic Sumo Tournament at Asia Society Texas Center – Co-hosting with Houston’s Shōgeki Sumo Dojo, Asia Society Texas presents an exciting open-weight sumo tournament with lightweights facing heavyweights, like professionals do in Japan.
