• UNICEF USA’s Heart Strings: Creating Connection to the World’s Children at Post Houston | Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7 – This multi-sensory exhibition enters its final weekend, inviting guests of all ages to travel the globe in just 45 minutes through the universal language of music. Eight interactive zones help guests create a global, ever-evolving song and use their voices to have a lasting impact on the lives of children. $23 and up. Times vary.
• Galveston Steampunk Festival at Galveston Railroad Museum | Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 7 – Fans of the steampunk aesthetic will assemble for this three-day fest celebrating the sci-fi subgenre that crosses Victorian-era tech with retrofuturism. Throughout Saturday, fans can take in live music and special performances, participate in a costume contest and enjoy games like archery, axe throwing and more. Then, on Sunday, festival goers can stroll through home and history tours of the Galveston area, plus an evening walking ghost tour. $25 and up; $15 for kids. • Pearland Holi Extravaganza at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, April 6 – A huge Holi celebration descends on Pearland to kick off April, complete with plenty of color play, DJs, games, kids activities, and a market featuring food, shopping and local vendors. No ticket required for festivities; $7 for admission to color play zone. 11am to 5pm.
• BalletForte presents Don Quixote at Stafford Centre | Saturday, April 6 & Sunday, April 7 – The Fort Bend ballet company brings to the stage the classic Spanish tale by Miguel de Cervantes. The family-friendly performance includes all the love, illusion, daring and adventure from the novel in an exciting production teeming with humor and fun. $17.50 and up. Saturday 7pm; Sunday 2pm.
• Kite Festival in Hermann Park | Sunday, April 7 | FREE – Held at the Miller Hill and Jones Reflection Pool, Hermann Park Conservancy’s annual Kite Festival invites the community to enjoy a day of fun and kite-flying in the park. Expect live music and a DJ, interactive games and activities, face painting and more alongside soaring colorful kites. 10am to 3pm.

• Carmela Full of Wishes at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Tuesday, April 9 & Wednesday, April 10 | FREE – Held at free outdoor performance hall Miller Outdoor Theatre, the magical storytelling troupe Magik Theatre presents “Carmela Full of Wishes,” an inspiring play based on the acclaimed book of the same title. 11am. 
• Disney On Ice: Magic in the Stars at NRG Stadium | Thursday, April 11 to Sunday, April 14 – The spectacular magic of Disney comes to life, lighting up the eyes of kids of all ages as your favorite characters sing, dance, and glide along the ice. • 37th Annual Houston Art Car Parade in Downtown Houston | Saturday, April 13 | FREE – One of the city’s most beloved annual events returns as a parade of zany, creatively decked out art cars roll down the streets of Downtown and Allen Parkway. The parade starts at 2pm, though it’s best to show up early if you want a prime viewing spot. • 2024 San Jacinto Day Celebration at the San Jacinto Museum | Saturday, April 20 | FREE – Bring the kids to get a taste of Texas history as you step back in time and honor the 188th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto. • Midtown Art in the Park at Midtown Park | Saturday, April 20 | FREE – Stop by Midtown Houston for back-to-back days of art celebration at this family-friendly event with local vendors, performers, and limited ArtJam activities where you’ll craft some take-home keepsakes.
