Harris County has partnered with public spaces and health clinics to provide Coronavirus testing to the Greater Houston area.
Testing for Coronavirus is recommended for anyone who believes they may have been exposed to COVID-19 or those who may be showing signs of infection, including a fever and respiratory symptoms.
In order to receive testing, you’ll first need to fill out an online self-assessment which, if granted, will provide an authorization code that can be used at Coronavirus testing sites around the Greater Houston area.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing in Houston & Harris County
Over a dozen dedicated testing sites have been set up across Harris County and the Greater Houston area, offering COVID-19 testing to those eligible through an online screening questionnaire. You do not need to be a resident of Harris County to receive testing at Coronavirus sites within Harris County.
Some of the free testing sites in Harris County include:

- Pasadena | San Jacinto College Central, 8060 Spencer Highway

- The Woodlands | Bear Branch Sportsfields, 5205 Research Forest Drive

Some sites do not provide free testing, so if you don’t see an indication that tests are payment-free, call ahead to be sure.

COVID-19 Testing at Walgreens
Two Walgreens locations in the Houston area have set up dedicated outdoor areas for COVID-19 testing:
- Houston | 14531 Westheimer Road near Highway 6
- Pasadena | 101 West Southmore Avenue near Shaver Street
In order to receive testing, you’ll need to fill out an online screening questionnaire through Walgreens. You’ll then be given directions to the testing locations along with other instructions.
Once there, you’ll self-administer a nasal swab, with the help of a Walgreens pharmacist, and results will be available within 24 hours. These tests are free for people who meet the criteria established by the CDC for testing (including people without health insurance, regardless of citizenship or immigration status).
