Archway Gallery presents its March 2021 exhibition, There Is An Instant, featuring new paintings from Silvia PintoSouza.

PintoSouza’s paintings are intimate, romantic, and direct. When still very young, she read a poem titled, “There Is An Instant,” by Guillermo Valencia, a 19th century Colombian poet and statesman.

The poem moved her deeply and has stayed with her ever since. “My original theme for this exhibition was “Old Barns” then the poem resurfaced from my memory in a very loud way and I was compelled to broaden that theme,” said PintoSouza.

The exhibit, There is an Instant, captures the moment when the sun sets—the end of a day, as well as a metaphor for the end of a life—a mission accomplished in a beautiful and generous way, full of nostalgia and feeling for what is about to end.

The exhibition will be on display through Thursday, April 1, 2021.

Social Distancing & COVID-19

As we enter into the vaccination phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, medical experts still advise that we have a way to go before we achieve herd immunity and can safely resume pre-pandemic activities. In the meantime, you can remain vigilant in protecting yourself against the coronavirus by continuing to wear face masks when in public spaces, practice social distancing of at least six feet, limit your touching of surfaces, and frequently use hand sanitizer or soap and water to keep your hands clean.

While the Governor of Texas has lifted mandatory mask orders and capacity limits, most businesses are still requiring face masks to enter and enforcing reduced capacity. Familiarize with your destination’s policies ahead of time and please respect their public safety precautions.

Free. Click here for more information. If you visit Archway Gallery’s website before the exhibition opens, be sure to click on “Exhibitions” in the top menu bar, then on “Upcoming Exhibitions”, to find details on this exhibit.

Private viewings for groups of 10 or fewer are also available by appointment only on Mondays through Thursdays through Thursday, April 1, 2021. Email [email protected] for details.
