Texas Independence Day Celebration at Washington on the Brazos
Sunday, March 1, 2020 | 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Bring your friends and family over to the 300-acre Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site for their annual 2-day Texas Independence Day Celebration.
Guests can commemorate when 59 delegates bravely met in 1836 to make a formal declaration of independence from Mexico and form a new nation with plenty of family-friendly activities.
There will be two stages of live music and entertainment featuring the Texas A&M Singing Cadets, the Brenham Children’s Chorus, Wesoabi Nation Native American Dance, Jagoda Polish Folk Dance Ensemble, and more. A third tented stage will include performances commonly seen in the early 1800s with Dr. Balthasar Medicine Show, Professor Gerard the Texian Magician and a traditional Punch & Judy puppet show.
Living historians will also present highlights of the convention of 1836 including important debates, decisions, and correspondence and attendees will then have the opportunity to meet the “delegates” of the Convention.
