Opera in the Heights presents Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire’s hilarious true story of Yeltsin in Texas at Lambert Hall on Heights Boulevard.
It was in 1989 after having toured the Johnson Space Center that Russian president Boris Yeltsin stopped in to experience a Houston supermarket. The abundance, the selection, and the happy employees he encountered there delighted, overwhelmed, and forever changed him and his policies.
Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire, the creators of Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena, bring this unlikely episode of Houston history to life with irreverence, humor, and homage to the 1980 sound world.
The opera is performed in English with English subtitles.
