With an abv of 7.8%, Freedom 7 is a Tart Saison, brewed with a simple grain bill consisting of predominately Pilsner malt with a touch of Vienna and Wheat. It was then fermented in one of True Anomaly’s American Oak Foeders for approximately nine months.
It was named for the space capsule that carried Alan Shephard, the first American to enter space, in 1961.
Just weeks before his flight, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin had become the first human in space, orbiting the Earth in the Vostok 1 spacecraft. In response Shepard named his space capsule “Freedom 7” to embolden the cause for democratic freedom and to commemorate NASA’s first group of seven astronauts.
Each of True Anomaly’s first seven bottle releases will also carry both the name of the astronaut who championed their historic mission, and the craft they flew.
Freedom 7 is available in 750ml bottles for $18 each, in two different varieties.
They will be available exclusively through bottles-to-go at True Anomaly while the limited release lasts.
There is a very limited quantity, limited to around 350 bottles of each style available. Orders are limited to two bottles per customer, per variety, per day. Any orders submitted exceeding the limit will be refunded for the items exceeding the purchase limit.
