Archway Gallery’s October exhibit, Diverse-City, An Ode to Houston, showcases Isabelle Perreau’s photographic love letter to the Bayou City.
When French-born photographer Perreau first “met” Houston, she was not seduced by its beauty. Instead, she recalls, “scary highways, the immensity of the town, and the suffocating weather.” But, ever the curious traveler, Perreau soon discovered the whole world united—colorful India, fragrant China, joyful Latin America, and expansive Africa. “I fell in love,” she exclaims. “I embraced my new hometown from the bottom of my heart.”
“Houston is a shining example of how diverse cultures can live together in respect, solidarity, and friendship—with decency and respect, peace is possible,” said Perreau.
The exhibit itself will be on physical and virtual display from Saturday, October 3 to Thursday, November 5, 2020.
Social Distancing & COVID-19 Precautions
Businesses in Houston have opened under modified protocols, following guidelines administered by local health officials, the State of Texas and CDC. At this time, guidance from experts urges people to continue wearing face masks when in public spaces, practice social distancing of at least six feet, limit your touching of surfaces and frequently use hand sanitizer or soap and water to keep your hands clean.
Before heading out, take time to familiarize with your destination’s requirements or restrictions at this moment, and be sure to contact them ahead of time with any questions or concerns.
Private viewings for groups of 10 or fewer are also available by appointment only on Mondays through Thursdays through Thursday, November 5, 2020. Email [email protected] for details.
