Bach Society Houston presents Bach’s Palm Sunday Cantata, the first of 2 Holy Week concerts showcasing the profound beauty of sacred music, at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Rice Boulevard. 

Bach’s Palm Sunday Cantata begins the Holy Week journey with Johann Sebastian Bach’s joyful and rarely performed Himmelskönig, sei willkommen (BWV 182), one of his earliest sacred works, originally composed for Palm Sunday.

The second concert, Erickson’s St. John Passion, will follow on Good Friday, April 18. The moving performance of the St. John Passion will feature the Bach Society Houston Orchestra and Choir and Christ the King Choir, with original music composed by Bach Society Houston’s artistic director, Rick Erickson, and a contemporary translation in English.
