- First Thursday on Mid Main | Thursday, October 6 – Look for DJs, live music, drink specials and complimentary beverages from St. Arnold Brewery at this monthly block party that combines fun and fundraising for area nonprofits. This month’s beneficiary is BioHouston. $10. 6pm to 10pm.
- The Original Greek Festival at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral | Thursday, October 6 to Saturday, October 8 – The annual Greek festival returns to the heart of Montrose, where you can expect bountiful Greek food, wine tastings, dancing, games and other family-friendly fun. $5; free for ages 12 and under. Friday 5pm to 10pm; Saturday and Sunday 11am to 10pm.
- 43rd Annual Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, October 6 to Saturday, October 8 | FREE – The Hermann Park stage again hosts this annual festival celebration of Chicano culture with performances across three nights, featuring Jay Perez and David Farias Band on Thursday; Elida Reyna y Avante with La Fiebre on Friday; and a Saturday night performance from Ram Herrera and Little Joe y La Familia. 7pm nightly.
- Whiskey Myers in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Friday, October 7 – Hear the blues rock act in person when the Texas-native six-piece tours Tornillo in the Woodlands. Shane Smith & the Saints, and the Weathered Souls open. $29.50 and up. 7pm.
- Performing Arts Houston presents An Evening with Tom Papa at Wortham Center | Friday, October 7 – The longtime comic, actor, author and podcaster comes to Downtown for a night of tales and observations that will have the crowd rolling. $45.50 and up. 7:30pm.
- Comedian Yedoye Travis at Rudyard’s British Pub | Friday, October 7 & Saturday, October 8 – One of Vulture‘s 2022 “Comedians You Should and Will Know,” Yedoye Travis takes to the upstairs mic at Ruds for back-to-back nights of stand-up hilarity and piercing insights. $17 and up. Times vary.
- 2022 Katy Rice Harvest Festival in Historic Downtown Katy | Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9 – Food, drink, live music, games and family fun are part of Katy’s biggest annual celebration, taking place across the weekend in Downtown Katy. Free on Friday; $10 on Saturday and Sunday (free for ages 12 and under). Times vary.
- Stages presents Plumshuga: The Rise of Lauren Anderson at the Gordy | Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9 | Opening Weekend – With a story that is at once perfectly Houston and absolutely universal, Plumshuga explores the life and legacy of Lauren Anderson, the first Black woman to be named a principal artist for a major American dance company. The world premiere blends spoken word, dance, music and theater for a look at Anderson’s life, and an exploration of what it means to follow your dreams. $30 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Galveston Artwalk in Downtown Galveston | Saturday, October 8 | FREE – Take a stroll through galleries, artist studios and local businesses on this exploration of local artwork in Downtown Galveston. 6pm to 8pm.
- FotoFest Biennial 2022 Dance Night at The Flat | Saturday, October 8 – This evening of dancing, food and drinks celebrates the 2022 FotoFest Biennial exhibitions If I Had A Hammer, African Cosmologies Redux and Ten by Ten. Multiple DJs spin tunes, including Malcolm Bravo and DJ Sun. 8pm to 2am.
- 48th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission | Saturday, October 8 & Sunday, October 9 – Back for its 48th year, the annual renaissance faire offers a whole fall of reveling in the enchanted worlds of kings and queens, knights, fairies and elves, with unique themes, crowd-pleasing performances, and delicious eats. Costumes are encouraged and you can shop unique crafts, leather goods, clothing and more. Prices vary by weekend; generally $20 and up, $10 for ages 5 to 12. 9am to 8pm.
- Pearland Art on the Pavilion at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, October 8 & Sunday, October 9 | No Cover – Hit up Pearland’s outdoor shopping district for a two-day juried art market featuring regional artists showcasing and selling one-of-a-kind artwork, with performances by local bands and musicians, and food truck offerings. 10am to 5pm.
- Bayou City Art Festival in Downtown | Saturday, October 8 & Sunday, October 9 – Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Bayou City Art Festival returns to Sam Houston Park in Downtown for two days of art shopping and showcases by more than 220 national and international artists. Plus, you can stroll the craft beer and boutique wine gardens, participate in a community art project and take in live performances. $15; $5 for ages 6 to 12. 10am to 6pm.
- Black Heritage Fest at Emancipation Park | Saturday, October 8 & Sunday, October 9 – Celebrate Houston’s vibrant African American community with a weekend gathering of artists, guest speakers, poets and crafts people, featuring performances by DJ Elevated, Elle Varner, Eric Benét, and Ruben Moreno & Zydeco Re-Evolution. $15; $5 for ages 9 to 12. 4pm to 10pm.
- Houston Dynamo FC vs. LA Galaxy at PNC Stadium | Sunday, October 9 – The Dynamo welcome an old rival to town for their final match of the season. $20 and up. 4pm.
