• 13th Annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival Around Houston | Starts Thursday, November 11 | Virtual Options | Some FREE – Get to know the Third Coast (it’s the Gulf Coast, natch) through 40+ curated documentary and narrative films, short film blocks, Q&As, dance performances, DJ sets, and workshops. In-person events next week, but select virtual screenings remain live through Sunday, November 21. Admission and showtimes vary.
• Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market at NRG Center | Daily – Join 100,000 shoppers at do-over of the perennial holiday markets 40th anniversary, in advance of the Ballet’s return of The Nutcracker to the stage later this month. $18 in advance; $20 at the door. Times vary.
• TUTS presents Sister Act at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts | Daily; Ends Sunday, November 14 – Get ready for a wild, comedic romp with a lot a heart as a disco diva named Delores Van Cartier finds herself in protective custody in a convent after she witnesses a murder. Completely at odds with the nuns’ restrictive lifestyle, Delores stirs up trouble, reinventing the convent and the community, only to put it all in peril. Tickets start at $40. Times vary.
• Wild Wild Brew Fest 2021 at Katy Mills Mall | Thursday, November 11 to Saturday, November 13 – Choose from more than 500 brews and take in live music, food truck bites, and more at the main event and on Saturday. Plus, you can get it gear with the K-Town Throw-Down on Thursday, and the Launch Party on Friday. $35 in advance for the Saturday event, which is 3pm to 9pm. Times and prices vary for other dates.
• Frostival at Discovery Green | Opens Friday, November 12 – Enjoy a crisp evening when Discovery Green hosts its opening night of the Green Mountain Energy Ice rink alongside an ice sculpture carving from Reverend Butter and live music by Sir Woman. The first 50 skaters in line skate for free. $15; skate rental included. 5pm to 10pm.
• Night Market at Asia Society Texas Center | Friday, November 12 | FREE – This festive night market will feature 40+ local AAPI-owned restaurants and small businesses, celebrating the vibrant diversity of Houston’s Asian American communities. Expect games and activities for all ages, K-Pop performances, free after-hours exhibitions, and a variety of food trucks and local artisan vendors. 6pm to 10pm.
• Scarface at House of Blues | Friday, November 12 – The Geto Boys rapper faced pneumonia and kidney failure in a frightening battle with COVID-19 last year, but now makes a triumphant return to the stage at the Downtown venue to show his appreciation to his fans and H-Town. Tickets range from $35 to $45. 8pm.
• 7th Annual Park to Port Bike Ride near Hermann Park | Saturday, November 13 – Hop on your bike for a scenic ride from Hermann Park’s parkland to the Port of Houston and back. All skill levels are welcome at this casual bike ride, which ends with a post-ride party at Bill Coats Bridge. Registration is $35. 7:30am.
• Post Houston Grand Opening Festival in Downtown | Saturday, November 13 | FREE – Known as Post HTX in its literal build-up to opening, the highly anticipated, re-developed former post office reimagined as an avant-garde cultural campus finally opens its doors to the public. Expect a building-spanning festival combining headlining musicians, world class food, curated art exhibits, exotic luxury vehicles, and more. Free; $100 VIP experience. 11am to midnight.
• Doug Benson & Friends at Warehouse Live | Saturday, November 13 – Prepare for an afternoon of high hilarity when comedian, television host and actor Doug Benson performs live with other stand-up comedians at the EaDo venue. Tickets are $22 in advance; $25 at the door. 4:20pm.
• Inaugural Outdoor Fall Ball & Night Market at Curb Market Montrose | Saturday, November 13 | FREE – The corner of Montrose Boulevard and Westheimer welcomes back the Curb Market for a special night of fall ball festivities, including live music, local vendors, artisans and carnival games. 6pm to 11pm.
• Lit AF Tour, hosted by Martin Lawrence at Toyota Center | Saturday, November 13 – Legendary funnyman Martin Lawrence emcees a night of nonstop hilarity when comedians Rickey Smiley, Deray Davis, Donnell Rawlings, Chico Bean, B. Simone and Clayton Thomas take the stage in Downtown for the Lit AF Tour. Tickets range from $45 to $125. 7:30pm.
• The Return of Draw Egan with Live Score by Montopolis at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Bask in a fun, tongue-in-cheek, and hilarious mash-up of silent film, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 -inspired script-revising, and a live score by chamber rock outfit Montopolis at an rousingly fun live event visiting H-Town from ATX. $15. 8pm.
• Spiceworld: Night of 1000 Spice Girls at Goodnight Charlie’s | Saturday, November 13 – Wannabes are welcome at this Montrose Spice Girl tribute event. Wear your favorite Spice Girl–inspired outfits and prepare to sing your heart out with the scheduled tribute performances. Best Spice Girl outfits will win a prize. General admission is $15; reserved tables for two are $40. 8pm.
• Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns at Toyota Center | Sunday, November 14 – Chris Paul, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns pay the Rockets a visit after wrapping up their season this past July, just two wins shy of an NBA championship. Tickets range from $15 to more than $800, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 6pm.
