  • Mayor’s Back 2 School Event at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday, August 13 | FREE – The annual back-to-school fest offers families of Houston-area elementary school students a chance to prepare for the return to the hallways with a school supply and backpack distribution. 8am to 2pm, until supplies last.
  • BAM! Art Market at Silver Street Studios | Saturday, August 13 | No Cover – The First Saturday Arts Market and the Market at Sawyer Yards join forces for a mash-up market inside the air-conditioned Silver Street Studios. Stop by to browse more than 100 artist vendors and enjoy live music, food and more. Noon to 8pm.
  • A League of Their Own Movie Screening at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston | Saturday, August 13 – Celebrating the film’s 30th anniversary, MFAH screens the classic baseball film starring Geena Davis, Tom Hanks and Madonna, introduced by the author of Hollywood Sports: Movies and the American Dream, Grant Wiedenfeld. $9; but advance tickets can be had for $5 with promocode HISFF at checkout. 2pm.
  • The Woodlands Margarita Festival 2022 at Town Green Park | Saturday, August 13 – Indulge in some ice cold margaritas in the summer sun while enjoying live music from Ruban Mareno, the Zydeco Re-Evolution, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, live DJs and more. $40 and up. 2pm to 8pm.
  • Plant Parent Night Out with Houseplant Journal at Buchanan’s Native Plants | Saturday, August 13 – Darryl Cheng, the author of The New Plant Parent, will be on hand to talk plant care and skills needed to be a confident plant parent. Light bites and beer will be provided, plus you’ll have a chance to purchase Cheng’s book and have it signed. $50. 5:30pm.
  • NFL Preseason: Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints at NRG Stadium | Saturday, August 13 – Quarterback Davis Mills leads the Texans into the home opener of the 2022 NFL preseason. $54 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Incredible India: A Cultural Kaleidoscope at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, August 13 | FREE – Led by Surender Talwar, this performance takes audiences on an exciting cultural journey through regions of India that have a rich artistic heritage. Dancers from the North and the South, and from the East and the West, weave a beautiful tapestry of vibrant colors and moods, proudly displaying the splendor of Indian dance in its many forms. 8:30pm.

  • Self-Care Sunday Funday at M-K-T | Sunday, August 14 | FREE – Explore the many joys that self-care can bring at this Sunday Funday event that also features interactive wellness activities, local vendor pop-ups, a live DJ, kids crafts and more. Noon to 4pm.
  • Bun B’s Trill Burgers Pop-Up at 8th Wonder Brewery | Sunday, August 14 – Fresh off being named “Best Burger in America” by Good Morning America, Bun B’s Trill Burgers set up shop at the EaDo brewery for you to get a taste, while supplies last. No cover, but burgers and drinks are on you. Noon to 6pm.
  • How Did This Get Made? Live at 713 Music Hall | Sunday, August 14 – Comedians Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas break down and mock bad films for a live performance of their popular podcast, How Did This Get Made?, when it takes the stage at Post Houston. $35 and up. 7pm.
  • Laura Marano in Concert at House of Blues | Sunday, August 14 – The musician and actress, known for her role as Ally in Disney’s Austin & Ally, comes to Downtown just weeks after her EP release, Us. $20. 8pm.
