November wraps up the fall festival season and transitions Houston into holiday season, kicking off with Dia de los Muertos and Asian- and Southeast Asian-inspired Night Market, then steamrolling towards Thanksgiving.

Meow Wolf Houston: Radio Tave in Fifth Ward | Daily | Now Open – The highly anticipated interactive, immersive art experience has just opened its Houston location next to Saint Arnold Brewing Company. The space tells many interweaving stories of interdimensional exploration and the intersection of the supernatural and mundane at fictional radio station ETNL. $40 and up. Times vary.

Night Market 2024 at Asia Society Texas Center | Friday, November 1  The popular annual event returns to the Museum District, offering a host of family-friendly activities including a curated marketplace, games and cultural installations, an Otaku Alley highlighting all things manga, anime and cosplay, a carnival, performances, and more. Free to attend, some activities require a ticket. 6pm to 10pm.

Día de los Muertos: Day of the Dead Market at the National Museum of Funeral History | Friday, November 1 – Sip, shop and stroll your way through the museum at a one-of-a-kind evening featuring over 40 vendors offering a mix of Hispanic Heritage, oddity, and artisan cottages. Expect drinks, costumes, face painting, and more. $25; $75 for VIP. 7pm to 10pm.

Hands-On Houston Fall Festival at HCCC | Saturday, November 2 | FREE  This year’s all ages fall festival celebrates HCCC’s Artist Residency Program through hands-on activities and craft demonstrations led by current and former resident artists. 11am to 3pm. 

Houston Dia de Muertos Parade & Festival at Sam Houston Park | Saturday, November 2 | FREE  The Día de los Muertos festival returns to Downtown, offering an evening of live music, a parade procession from 7pm to 8pm, delicious concessions, arts and crafts, and more. Free to participate in the parade, but traditional attire—full of pageantry and beauty—is recommended. 2pm to 10pm.

Pilobolus’ reCreation at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, November 2 | FREE – Closing out the Hermann Park venue’s 101st season, this dynamic collection of dance pieces—daring experiments and groundbreaking new collaborations—stand alongside classic works recognized for altering the landscape of dance and theater. 7:30pm.

The 24th Annual Día de Muertos Festival at MECA | Saturday, November 2 & Sunday, November 3 | FREE  In its 24th iteration, this vibrant celebration of art, community, and culture will take place at the Historic Dow School in Houston’s Old Sixth Ward. 11am to 8pm both days. 

MLS Cup Round 1: Houston Dynamo FC vs. Seattle Sounders | Sunday, November 3 – Cheer for the Dynamo and get loud as Houston faces off against the boys from Seattle in our first round home playoff game. 5:30pm.

Houston Cinema Arts Festival Around Houston | Thursday, November 7 to Sunday, November, 17 | Some FREE – The city’s annual festival celebrating the silver screen returns to theater spaces across Houston, screening and premiering short and feature length films from Houston and around the world. Plus, there will be special guest panels, workshop opportunities, and more Screenings are typically individually ticketed and sometimes free, but all-access passes start at $200. Times, locations and prices vary.

Candlelight: A Tribute to Beyoncé at Majestic Metro | Friday, November 8 – Soak in a live concert by Range Ensemble String Quartet who’ll be performing classic Queen B songs like “Survivor”, “Crazy in Love”, and “Hold Up” by the glow of candlelight next to Historic Market Square in Downtown. $57.50 and up. 8:45pm.

71st Annual Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show at Humble Civic Center | Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10 – Still going strong in its 70s, Houston Gem and Mineral Society’s big show returns to celebrate, showcase, and sell beautiful minerals, fossils, jewelry, gemstones, and other unique finds over three days. Also expect educational exhibitions, kids activities, classes and demonstrations such as lessons on jewelry making, beading, lapidary, and fossil identifications. $12; free for ages 10 and under. Times vary.

IgboFest Houston at Discovery Green | Saturday, November 9 | FREE – Experience lively West African traditional dances, music, a fashion parade, cultural presentations, and jollof rice at the IgboFest in Downtown. 3pm to 10pm.

11th Annual Islamic Arts Festival at University of Houston Main Campus | Saturday, November 9 & Sunday, November 10 | FREE – The largest and oldest festival of Islamic arts in the U.S. moves from a suburban location to the heart of Houston for two days art shopping directly from 50 national artists, while enjoying live music, comedy, a film festival, interactive art sessions, ethnic foods for sale, live demonstrations on calligraphy, henna tattoos, ebru, painting, and a variety of children’s art activities. 10:30am to 5:30pm both days.

Market Square Park Farmers Market Friendsgiving Block Party in Downtown | Saturday, November 16 | FREE – The popular weekly farmers market wraps up its fall season with a super-sized block party, growing out onto the streets with art pop-ups, rollicking live music from Bayou City Funk, great pre-Thanksgiving fresh produce and food shopping, great people-watching and dog-petting, and more. 10am to 2pm.

Depot Day Fall Fest at Tomball Depot Plaza | Saturday, November 16 | FREE – Tomball’s annual celebration is all about trains, featuring model railroads mixed with classic fall fair fun, old-fashioned country music, carnival games, a pumpkin patch, a kids’ zone and more. 11am to 6pm.

2024 Zine Fest Houston at The Orange Show | Saturday, November 16 | FREE – ZineFest, a grassroots festival, gathers media creators from across the city to share their zines, mini-comics, and other forms of small press, alternative, underground, DIY media and art. Swing by Houston’s Orange Show for Visionary Art, shop, and find community. Noon to 6pm.

Houston Turkey Trot at the Galleria | Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28 – Join in the Houston tradition and race or walk in a 10K, 5K, or Kids Run for ages 12 and under. $43 and up; $24 for Kids Run. Prices will increase after Friday, November 22, 2024. 7:30am.

75th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Downtown | Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28 | FREE – Get into the holiday spirit at the 75th Annual H-E-B Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade, a showcase of sensational floats, high-flying balloons, marching bands, artistic entries, and live entertainment through the streets of Downtown. 9am to 11am.

The Suffers in Concert at Axelrad Beer Garden | Friday, November 29 | FREE – H-Town’s own gulf coastal soul group—headlined by Kam Franklin and known for their ’70s R&B, disco, jazz, and contemporary gospel—performs a free show in Midtown’s unofficial backyard. Get there early to secure a good spot. Ages 21+. 8pm.
