Learn to write inspired text with the From Paint to Poetry writing workshop at The Jung Center on Saturday, January 16, 2016.
The art of ekphrastic writing, which is the act of writing inspired by non-literary work, is a long standing tradition in the writing world.
Participants who will be instructed on the style will use famed abstract artist Mark Rothko’s paintings from his current Museum of Fine Arts retrospective as examples to create their own text.
Lead by HCC professor Addie Tsai and co-sponsored by the MFAH, the beginner-friendly workshop will have attendees writing inspired text in no time.
About the Instructor
Addie Tsai’s work has been published in anthologies and literary magazines. She co-conceived Victor Frankenstein, and collaborated on Camille Claudel with Dominic Walsh Dance Theater.
Her photography was exhibited with Fotofest. Tsai holds an MFA from Warren Wilson College. She teaches at HCC and is currently a PhD student in Texas Woman’s University’s Dance Studies Program.
