Light up the night at the Mayor’s Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting

Enjoy a live musical showcase, the lighting of the massive Christmas tee in front of City Hall and the holiday fireworks finale on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm.

Mayor Annise Parker welcomes all Houstonians to the free 96th annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting spectacular, officially kicking off the Christmas holidays for the City of Houston.

In addition to the tree lighting itself and the fireworks finale over City Hall, you’ll find a full program of live musical entertainment and an appearance by Santa Claus himself.

Amazing All-Star Entertainment

The show is headlined by seven time Grammy winner Al Jarreu, known for his jazz and gospel career, scat singing, vocal bass and vocal percussion.

Other entertainers include RaeLynn (an alumnus of the The Voice season 2 and Baytown native), Divisi Strings, HITS Theater, the nationally acclaimed Venezuelan Dancers – Casino Stars and the T.H. Rogers Signing Choir.

Santa Claus will make a stop as he surveys his Houston route and will be available for free photographs with kids in his North Pole themed booth.

Tree Lighting & Fireworks

Mayor Parker will follow the performances by lighting the Christmas tree and kicking off the lighting and fireworks show, choreographed to the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

Toy Drive

Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Reliant booth at the Mayor’s Holiday Celebration get a light-up Santa hat. Toys collected will go support the Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command’s toy drive.
