  • Performing Arts Houston presents Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain at Wortham Center | Tuesday, April 30 – Welcome the internationally acclaimed, hilarious and highly entertaining pluckers to the Bayou City. Their catalog is a menagerie of rock, pop, jazz, blues, and classical music, making for an eclectic evening. $29 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Broadway Across America presents The Girl from the North Country at Hobby Center | Tuesday, April 30 to Sunday, May 5 – In Duluth, Minnesota, in 1934, we meet a group of travelers whose lives intersect at a boarding house. Written and directed by acclaimed playwright Conor McPherson, the play reimagines 20 of Bob Dylan’s songs, including “Forever Young,” “Slow Train Coming” and “Like a Rolling Stone.” $35 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Cuánto vale una heladera (How Much is a Refrigerator Worth) at MATCH | Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5 – Gente de Teatro brings a trio of comedic short plays to the Midtown stage, all written by Argentine playwrights Claudia Piñeiro and Claudio Regis. The three productions—Cuanto Vale una Heladera, Mesa de Saldos, and Verona—are performed in Spanish without subtitles. $30 and up. 7:30pm; Sunday at 3:30pm.
  • Davis Gordon Gilbert & Gigi Productions present Aces! at MATCH | Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5 – Everything’s bigger in Texas, even the number of Miss USA titles. This performance explores the five women who’ve won the Miss Texas USA and Miss USA crowns, going on to represent Texas and the United States at Miss Universe. $29. Showtimes vary.
  • Houston Symphony presents Pines Of Rome and Grieg’s Piano Concerto at Jones Hall | Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5 – Romanian virtuoso Alexandra Dariescu joins the orchestra for Grieg’s famous Piano Concerto, a guaranteed crowd pleaser adored for its memorable tunes and dramatic flair. Then, visions of Rome are rendered with a palette of spectacular orchestral colors in Respighi’s beloved composition. $39 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Cinco de Mayo at Miller: ¡Viva Mexico¡ Viva America! at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, May 3 | FREE – This colorful explosion of dance and culture brings one of the most-celebrated ballet folklorico companies in the country to the Miller stage. Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles collaborated with Disney to launch Coco at D23 and the film’s premiere at the El Capitan Theatre. 8:15pm.
  • Stages presents Othello: The Remix at the Gordy | Friday May 3 | Ongoing – This hip-hop adaptation finds an onstage DJ spinning Shakespeare’s legendary masterpiece of jealousy, revenge and passion. The show was a New York Times critics pick, and is sure to showcase the story in a whole new light. This production runs through Sunday, June 9. $25 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • International Voices Houston presents Encores at MATCH | Saturday, May 4 & Sunday, May 5 – Houston’s premier multicultural choir brings back several memorable favorites from over the years, along with exciting new compositions. This choral program features music in several languages, including English, Korean, Spanish, Bosnian, French, Japanese, Arabic, Swahili, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Akan, and Maori. $25. Saturday at 7pm; Sunday at 3pm.
  • Houston Youth Symphony Spring Concerts at Stude Concert Hall | Sunday, May 5 – The award-winning youth orchestra closes out its season with two spring concerts on Sunday, each with a unique program featuring assemblies of string orchestras, and the Philharmonia and Symphony for a stunning showcase of teenage talent. $15; $10 for ages 11 and under. 2:30pm and 7pm.
