- Hairspray at Hobby Center | Daily – Set in 1960s Baltimore, this Broadway hit sees 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad living big dreams with even bigger hair as the world faces turmoil amidst dance competitions. Don’t miss this beloved score of hit songs. $35 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Galveston Ballet Presents: The Wizard of Oz at the Grand 1894 Opera House | Thursday & Friday – Follow the yellow brick road to Oz with Dorothy and the gang as they journey through thick and thin to get back home in this all-time classic tale. $28. 6pm.
- The Barricade Boys in Concert at Hobby Center | Thursday & Friday – It’s the ultimate musical mashup with the sounds of Broadway hits like Les Misérables and Jersey Boys, plus a mix of the greatest pop, rock, swing and Motown hits of all time. $54 and up. Thursday 7pm; Friday 7:30pm.
- 20th Annual Wine & Food Week in the Woodlands | Thursday to Saturday – Actually kicking off on Wednesday, June 5, Wine & Food Week celebrates 20 years with a week of individual gastronomic delights and culinary events. Weekend highlights include Get Frosted at Rosé Way on Thursday, Sip, Suds and Savor on Friday, and capped off by the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase on Saturday. Prices and times vary.
- Houston Ballet presents Four Seasons at Wortham Center | Thursday, Saturday & Sunday – This mixed rep program showcases the ballet’s depth of artistry. Four dances, including Tchaikovsky’s Pas de Deux and the world premiere of choreographer Dwight Rhoden’s The Four Seasons, set to the recognizable music of Antonio Vivaldi highlight the program. $45 and up. Showtimes vary.
- LIV Golf Houston at Golf Club of Houston | Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9 – The LIV Golf Tournament comes to Houston to kick off its final stage, including two home town players. The tourney is known for its fun and lively atmosphere and there are many hospitality options and packages available. Stick around after the golf on Saturday for a live concert by Macklemore. $46.98 and up; free tickets available for ages 12 and under. 10am to 6pm each day.
- Galveston Island Revue Weekend Around Galveston | Friday to Sunday | Some FREE – The island launches into the summer season with the 16th edition of celebration inspired by classic beach parties of the past, complete with classic cars, vintage vendors, live music, and the crowd-favorite old-timey Bathing Beauties Contest in Saengerfest Park on Saturday evening. The main event, the Bathing Beauties Contest, on Saturday is free to all, and is surrounded by a series of lively ticketed events throughout the weekend. Bathing Beauties Contest on Saturday is 5pm to 9pm.
- Comedian JR De Guzman at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The Filipino born, California entertainer, named one of Variety’s Ten Comics of 2022, comes to the Spring Branch comedy club for a weekend of laughs. $54 for 2 people and up. Times vary.
- Houston Symphony presents Strauss Festival: Salome in Concert at Jones Hall | Friday & Sunday – Considered a scandalous show when it premiered in the 1890s, Salome features an explosive score and erotically-charged plot and will mark one of the biggest concert productions in Houston Symphony history. With stunning projections, stylized costumes, theatrical lighting and staging elements, the concert is headlined by world-renowned soprano Jennifer Holloway and a star-studded cast. $34 and up. Friday 8pm; Sunday 7pm.
- ThriftCon Houston 2024 at NRG Center | Saturday & Sunday – Vintage and collectibles from the ’70s to the 2000s are up for discovery from more than 140 vendors, so come ready to buy, sell and trade. $14 and up; free for ages 12 and under. 10am to 5pm.
- Markets for Makers: Spring Market at Post Houston | Saturday & Sunday – Shopping while supporting local and small businesses is easy to do here with over 90 vendors specializing in home decor, fashion, art, design, food and more in a fun and inspiring environment that champions community. $8 and up. 11am to 5pm.

- Chinese Folktales: Wit & Wisdom of the Ancestors at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Glorious classic tales are brought to life with a unique blend of theatre and dance in this co-production from Dance of Asian America and Express Children’s Theatre. 11am.
- Ion Block Party: Chef Showcase at The Ion | FREE with RSVP – The Ion’s monthly block party on the plaza expands with a showcase of the district’s palate-pleasing restaurants, including The Lymbar, Late August, Second Draught, and more. RSVP required to enjoy free restaurant and tap room samples. 4pm to 7pm.
- Pride Happy Hour at Moody Center for the Arts | FREE – The Rice University arts gallery hosts its annual happy hour with Pride Chorus Houston, DJ Krazzy Kris, complimentary drinks and crafts. 5pm to 7pm.
- Wine & Food Week: Get Frosted the Rosé Way at the Peach Orchard – Dress in your chic pinks and partake in all things rosé while enjoying a Chloe Dao fashion show, a handbag showcase by Coach, beauty experiences and more. $75 and up. 6pm to 9pm.
- First Thursday Block Party at Mid-Main – The monthly block party brings together local biz for a night of live music, art shows, shopping, and handmade goodies from local vendors. All-access wristbands are a $10 donation. 6pm to 10pm.
- Martini Theater at DTO: Pride Edition at Daiquiri Time Out | FREE – The Galveston hot spot for frozens returns with their monthly movie series, themed for Pride. The series opens with the 1990 film, Paris is Burning. Ages 21 and up. 6:30pm.
- Vampire Weekend in Concert at 713 Music Hall – Fresh off the release of Only God Was Above Us, Vampire Weekend brings their jangly pop melodies to the Downtown venue while embarking on a 45-city tour through North America. $34 and up. 7pm.
- An Orchestral Rendition of Dr Dre 2001 at House of Blues – This isn’t your average orchestral event when the sounds of the legendary Dr. Dre album get layered up as West Coast classics come to life with DJs, singers and lyricists. $45 and up. 7pm.
- The Texas Blues Guitar Summit at the Heights Theater – Blues fans can come together for a night in the Heights of jams from a group of long-time guitarists consisting of Anson Funderburgh, Mike Morgan and Shawn Pittman. Houston’s own the Mighty Orq opens. $20 and up. 7pm.
- Comedian Concrete at Houston Improv – For one night only, the LA-based comedian brings an electric night of stand-up to the stage that has garnered a devoted social following. $70 and up. 7:30pm.
- The Cactus Blossoms in Concert at Continental Club – Opening act Lou Hazel sets the tone for these “brothers” that have notched rave reviews from The New York Times and NPR. $20 and up. 8pm.

- ROCO In Concert: Magnetic at Kinder High School for the Performing & Visual Arts | FREE – Mei-Ann Chen conducts a magical showcase that highlights ROCO’s innovative nature and commitment to women composers and expanding the classical canon. 11am.
- Wine & Food Week: Ladies of the Vine Tasting, Panel & Luncheon at the Club at Carlton Woods – Get behind the scenes with the expertise of a diverse panel of women winemakers, owners and experts that guide guests through the stories of wine. The daytime event is an intimate experience with tasting stations, followed by a multi-course wine meal. $135. 11:30am.
- The Macallan Tasting with Juliana Hernandez at Brennan’s of Houston – This exclusive tasting works through a flight of the Macallan 12-year Sherry Oak, 15-year Double Cask, and the Harmony Intense Arabica. Brennan’s provides the culinary bites through the evening. $60. 5pm.
- Opening Night: The Big Show 2024 at Lawndale Art Center | FREE – The annual show turns 40, gathering works by 90 artists practicing within a 100-mile radius of Lawndale. 5pm to 7pm.
- Wine & Food Week: Sips, Suds & Savor at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott – Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wine & Food Week with great grub, live music, wine, beer, craft spirits, and a live performance art show from PaintJam’s Harvey Dunn. $45. 6pm.
- 2024 Studio School Annual Student Exhibition: Opening Reception at Glassell School of Art | FREE – See the blossoming talents of students in this cross section of art produced in studio classes, highlighting the diversity of backgrounds and visual experiences of the school’s students. 6pm.
- Intempo Dance Ensemble presents Tangled at MATCH – Join in a night of family-friendly adventure when Intempo presents the story of Rapunzel through a stage production with live music and dance. $20. 7pm.
- Let’s Get Lost Movie Screening at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston – One of the opening selections of the annual Jazz on Film series finds photography Bruce Weber catching up with legendary trumpeter Chet Baker, 30 years after time and drug addiction ravaged his life. $7 and up. 7pm.
- Near Dark: A Black Light Art Show at Hardy & Nance Studios | FREE – This annual glow show features work by local artists in all–black light sensitive pieces, along with complimentary drinks and good vibes. 7pm to 11pm.
- Dancing on the Square: Disco Night at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE – Join professional dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studio for a disco themed night of dancing on the square, with music from Level One Band. 7:30pm.
- Lip Critic in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – The genre-clashing sounds of Lip Critic take over the stage at White Oak, joined by openers CPU Buddha, Petty Thief and Bathtub Drugs. $13. 8pm.
- The Baroque-Carnatic Connection at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Expect a vibrant musical experience with world-class Carnatic and baroque musicians, paired with a striking professional South Indian Bharatanatyam dance ensemble. 8:30pm.
- Summer Kick Off Fireworks at Kemah Boardwalk | FREE – Take a break from the rides and restaurants as you watch over the water where all the excitement takes place to start your summer with a spectacular firework show. Come back to enjoy the show every Friday through July. 9:30pm.
- Malaa DJ Set at Stereo Live – Dance the night away with the French electronic dance music DJ who rose to prominence with hit records like Notorious and Confession. Ages 18 and up. $30. 10pm.
