  • Houston Symphony presents Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets at Jones Hall | Friday & Saturday – Experience the dramatic music of Hogwarts, where cars fly, trees fight back and monsters are on the loose at this night of live orchestra as the film plays on a giant screen. $48.88 and up. Times vary.
  • Comedian Geoffrey Asmus at the Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – The self-proclaimed “Only Funny White Comedian in America” brings his Rife with Intelligence tour to the Rudyard’s stage for back-to-back nights. $25 and up. 7pm and 9pm.
  • Houston Ballet presents A Night of Celebration at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday & Saturday – The internationally acclaimed company of dancers head to the Hermann hill for a magical night of their incredible athleticism and artistry. 8pm.
  • Yaga’s Wild Game & BBQ Cook-Off at Moody Gardens Hotel | Friday & Saturday – The annual fundraiser for the Yaga’s Children’s Fund returns, so come hungry as teams take their chances for the winning dish in a weekend of old-fashioned fun. Friday night is an exclusive celebration and fundraiser, with Saturday being the big open-to-all tasting affair. Friday 7pm to 11pm; Saturday 10am to 5pm.
  • 39th Texas Crab Festival at Festival Park in Crystal Beach | Friday to Sunday – Take in a whole weekend of all things Texas Crab, where you can savor crab dishes, live music, and festivities, including carnival rides, art vendors, wiener dog races, and more near Galveston. $15 and up; free for ages 15 and under. Times vary.
  • Big As Texas Music Festival at Montgomery County Fairgrounds | Friday to Sunday – This huge inaugural music event is packed with beloved country music stars across multiple stages, plus a carnival, a car show, food trucks, camping and more. $139 and up. Times vary. 
  • Mother’s Day Weekend with Shop Local Market at Houston Farmers Market | No Cover | Saturday & Sunday – The Heights marketplace hosts a two-day market offering a chance to shop unique gifts like artisan treasures, local art, fresh flowers, plants, jewelry and more, just in time for Mother’s Day. Black Swan Yoga will be on-site at 9am Sunday morning for a free yoga sesison. 10am to 5pm.
  • Galveston Historic Homes Tour | Saturday & Sunday – Step into the past on this self-guided tour of some of the Island’s most beautiful homes. All have been lovingly preserved by their owners, and showcase both individual taste and examples of exquisite architecture. $45 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • Sugar Land Jazz Festival at Crown Festival Park | Saturday & Sunday – For back-to-back days, this jazz fest in Sugar Land offers evenings of music from performers like Boney James, Robert Glasper and Tower of Power, among others. $54 and up. 5pm to 10:30pm.
  • On Midnight, Friday the 13th at Ensemble Theatre | Saturday & Sunday – The premiere weekend for this play arrives, where family and friends gather for the suspenseful reading of Angus Black’s will. An intriguing and hilarious journey unfolds as those gathered learn his final wishes are not what anyone expects. $37 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Aventura in Concert at Toyota Center | Saturday & Sunday – Bachata music is on tap at Toyota when the Kings of Bachata play back-to-back nights in Downtown. $136 and up. 8pm.
