Groove out under the stars at The Music of Sam Cooke: A Change is Gonna Come, a free concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Friday, August 11, 2023.

Influencing everyone from Aretha Franklin to Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke left an indelible mark on American music.

You can hear the iconic artist’s songs when The Music of Sam Cooke: A Change is Gonna Come brings Bradd Marquis and the Magnificents to the Miller Outdoor stage for a free night of soul classics.

Created and performed by Bradd Marquis, the tribute show explores Cooke’s life and legacy from his birth in Mississippi to his death at a Los Angeles motel.

Cooke melded elements of R&B, gospel and pop in his music, giving birth to the genre of soul. His hits “Cupid,” “Another Saturday Night,” “A Change is Gonna Come,” “You Send Me,” “Wonderful World” and more capture the love, loss and optimism of the mid-20th century.

This concert promises to be a multi-generational event, offering nostalgia and showcasing Cooke’s music to a new generation.
