  • Texas New Music Festival at MATCH | Daily | Some FREE – This summer fest offers a week of world-class performances and lectures while providing career building opportunities for international musical artists across the Houston community. Enjoy concerts (including a free one on Wednesday), and a guest lecture on Saturday with Carlos Chavez, Mexico’s first international composer. $20 for individual concerts; $50 for a festival pass.   • Latin Restaurant Weeks at Multiple Location | Daily | Ongoing – This two-week dining event (running through Friday, July 21) sees dozens of participating restaurants across the city showcasing dishes in prix-fixe menus from a variety of cuisines, including Colombian, Ecuadorian, Mexican and across the Central and South America diaspora. Prices and times vary.
  • Candle Making Classes at B. Elevated Candle Bar | Daily – Browse a bouquet of luxury candles from the store shelves at this recent CityCentre addition, or book one of B. Elevated’s hands-on workshops where you and friends can select from among 40+ signature scents and craft a candle suited to your own taste and style. Classes are available on the hour; $35 for a 6oz. candle in a tin vessel; $50 for a 12oz. candle in a glass vessel. Times vary.
  • Comedian DeRay Davis at Houston Improv | Daily – The actor and comedian known for roles on Snowfall and The Boondocks comes to H-Town for a weekend of his latest set, Too Much?! $80 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Summer Literary Fest at University of St. Thomas | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Authors and scholars discuss their work across a wide variety of subject matter—from the importance of children’s literature to works of mercy—with each evening offering an opportunity to hear from a different writer. The festival runs through Tuesday, July 18. Registration is requested. 7:15pm to 8:45pm.
  • TUTS: A Celebration of Houston Stories & Songs at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Theatre Under the Stars celebrates 55 years and Miller’s centennial with five nights of performances from celebrated Houston stars taking on iconic songs from TUTS’ history of Broadway productions and more. Arrive early for Friday and Saturday’s performance at 6:30pm for a celebration of Miller Outdoor with puppet shows, magicians and a larger-than-life birthday cake photo opportunity. 8:30pm.
  • Loco for Coconut Party at Truck Yard Houston | Friday & Saturday | No Cover – Wear your tropical best, and head to EaDo for this tropical party featuring luau drinks, hula dancers and, of course, coconuts. Friday 5pm to 2am; Saturday noon to 2am.

Theatre Under the Stars celebrates 55 years and Miller’s centennial with five nights of performances from celebrated Houston stars taking on iconic songs from TUTS’ history of Broadway productions and more.

  • Celebrate Miller: An Evening Of Imagination! at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday & Saturday | FREE – Bring the family for an evening of imagination and performance with interactive puppet shows, magicians, a collaborative mural and more—including photo ops with a larger-than-life birthday cake. Plus, stick around on both nights for a special Theatre Under the Stars program celebrating Houston with the iconic sounds of Broadway. 6:30pm; TUTS concert starts at 8:30pm.
  • Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert at Hobby Center | Friday & Saturday – The movie that opens the saga of the boy wizard and his Hogwarts adventures screens as the Houston Symphony plays the stirring score by John Williams live. $59 and up. Friday 7:30pm; Saturday 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
  • The Riot Comedy Club presents Mike Cannon at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – After recently dropping two specials in 2022, White Privilege Homeless and Mike Cannon’s Huge Mistake (a crowd work special on edibles), the New York-based comedian and actor performs two nights at Rudyard’s upstairs stage. $17 and up. Times vary.
  • Sugar Land Space Cowboys vs. El Paso Chihuahuas at Constellation Field | Friday to Sunday – A brief three-game series against El Paso brings a weekend of giveaways, including a Jeremy Peña World Series ring on Friday, a Space Cowboy Aloha Shirt on Saturday, and a Kids Day celebration to close it out on Sunday. $12 and up. Times vary.
  • Bridal Extravaganza Show at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday & Sunday – This massive wedding planning expo features vendors, cakes, gowns, a Las Vegas gaming area with chances to win prizes, and much more to plan your upcoming nuptials from top to bottom. $7.99 and up; VIP packages and perks available.   • Master Gardener Lecture Series at Mancuso Neighborhood Library | FREE – This program by the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension allows you to pick up tricks and tips to help your home garden look its best. This installment of the summer series focuses on rainwater harvesting. 11am.
  • Lunch & Learn: Why Birds Migrate at the Water Works | FREE – The Buffalo Bayou Partnership hosts this session that will help you learn about birds in your neighborhood, their migratory patterns and why they are essential to our ecosystem. Bring your own lunch or grab a bite at your expense from a visiting food truck. Noon to 1pm.
  • 713 Day Market at 8th Wonder Brewery | No Cover – Setting up at the EaDo brewery, 713 Night Market brings dozens of local merch slingers and food vendors, with options like Korean wings, Filipino food, chicken and waffles, funnel cake, Mexican food, ice cream and more.   • Summer Nights at MFAH – Art lovers who want to beat the crowds will love these private evenings at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.   • Bastille Day at Rice Stadium – The French American Chamber of Commerce hosts this celebration of France’s national holiday.   • Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets Movie Screening at Urban South HTX | No Cover – As part of the month-long Potterfest taking place at the Arts District brewery, Urban South hosts a screening of the second film in the beloved series, ahead of a late-July trivia night and festival. 6:30pm.

  • Beat Street Movie Screening at Emancipation Park | FREE – Grab a lawn chair or blanket and head over to the Third Ward park to catch this screening of the 1984 film about an aspiring DJ from the Bronx and his promoter friend who are trying to make it big. 7:30pm.
  • Zeshan B in Concert at Asia Society Texas – Presented as part of Asia Society Texas’ Muslim Series, this concert showcases Zeshan B’s music with its South Asian influences and gospel-tinged touches. $30. 7:30pm to 9pm.
  • Marca MP in Concert at Smart Financial Centre – The California-based trio making Regional Mexican music is bringing their flair for banda, mariachi, and more to Sugar Land with the Brindo tour. $44 and up. 8pm.
