• Texas New Music Festival at MATCH | Daily | Some FREE – This summer fest offers a week of world-class performances and lectures while providing career building opportunities for international musical artists across the Houston community. • Latin Restaurant Weeks at Multiple Location | Daily | Ongoing – This two-week dining event (running through Friday, July 21) sees dozens of participating restaurants across the city showcasing dishes in prix-fixe menus from a variety of cuisines, including Colombian, Ecuadorian, Mexican and across the Central and South America diaspora. Prices and times vary.
• Candle Making Classes at B. Elevated Candle Bar | Daily – Browse a bouquet of luxury candles from the store shelves at this recent CityCentre addition, or book one of B. Elevated’s hands-on workshops where you and friends can select from among 40+ signature scents and craft a candle suited to your own taste and style. Classes are available on the hour; $35 for a 6oz. candle in a tin vessel; $50 for a 12oz. candle in a glass vessel. Times vary.
• Comedian DeRay Davis at Houston Improv | Daily – The actor and comedian known for roles on Snowfall and The Boondocks comes to H-Town for a weekend of his latest set, Too Much?! $80 for 2, and up. Times vary.
• Summer Literary Fest at University of St. Thomas | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Authors and scholars discuss their work across a wide variety of subject matter—from the importance of children’s literature to works of mercy—with each evening offering an opportunity to hear from a different writer. The festival runs through Tuesday, July 18. Registration is requested. 7:15pm to 8:45pm.
• TUTS: A Celebration of Houston Stories & Songs at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Theatre Under the Stars celebrates 55 years and Miller’s centennial with five nights of performances from celebrated Houston stars taking on iconic songs from TUTS’ history of Broadway productions and more. Arrive early for Friday and Saturday’s performance at 6:30pm for a celebration of Miller Outdoor with puppet shows, magicians and a larger-than-life birthday cake photo opportunity. 8:30pm.
• Loco for Coconut Party at Truck Yard Houston | Friday & Saturday | No Cover – Wear your tropical best, and head to EaDo for this tropical party featuring luau drinks, hula dancers and, of course, coconuts. Friday 5pm to 2am; Saturday noon to 2am.

• The Riot Comedy Club presents Mike Cannon at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – After recently dropping two specials in 2022, White Privilege Homeless and Mike Cannon’s Huge Mistake (a crowd work special on edibles), the New York-based comedian and actor performs two nights at Rudyard’s upstairs stage. $17 and up. • Sugar Land Space Cowboys vs. El Paso Chihuahuas at Constellation Field | Friday to Sunday – A brief three-game series against El Paso brings a weekend of giveaways, including a Jeremy Peña World Series ring on Friday, a Space Cowboy Aloha Shirt on Saturday, and a Kids Day celebration to close it out on Sunday. $12 and up. • Bridal Extravaganza Show at George R. • Present Laughter at Main Street Theater | Saturday & Sunday | Opening Weekend – Noel Coward’s sparkling comedy about a self-obsessed actor going through a midlife crisis draws on the playwright’s own life. This production runs through Sunday, August 13. $39 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Creative Movement Practices presents The Secret in the Wings at MATCH | Daily | Ongoing – When a young girl is left at home with an amorous ogre, he tells her six tales, all darker than the one before. Will she be caught up in the darkness of his spell? $40. Showtimes vary.
• AD Players presents Smoke on the Mountain at the George Theater | Daily | Ongoing – It’s 1938 in a small North Carolina town nestled in the Smoky Mountains, where the Saunders Family, a traveling musical group, is making an appearance after a five-year absence. This family-friendly musical incorporates two dozen bluegrass tunes folded around stories told by the Saunders family. This production runs through Sunday, July 23. $28 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Phenomenal Woman, Maya Angelou at Ensemble Theatre | Daily | Ongoing – This musical showcases the remarkable life of the iconic writer and activist Maya Angelou, and demonstrates why her life and words continue to inspire. $53 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Catastrophic Theatre presents Tamarie’s Totally True Revue (Plus Lies, Too) at MATCH | Daily | Ongoing – The irrepressible Tamarie Cooper is back for this year’s summer revue spectacular. Cooper and her band of misfits explore twisted encounters with Tinkerbell, Ben Franklin, Pinocchio, Kenny Rogers and more on this epic, all-musical journey. • Stages presents Thunder Knocking on the Door at the Gordy | Daily | Ongoing – This musical fable explores what happens to a small Alabama town when a blues guitar-playing stranger arrives, with a challenge that will pit family members against each other. $30 and up. Showtimes vary.
• The Little Mermaid at Crighton Theater | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – The Conroe theater hosts this musical based on the beloved Disney animated film, which tells the story of a mermaid who makes a deal with a sea witch in order to become human. $26. Showtimes vary.
• Art Park Players present The Music Man at Deer Park Municipal Court | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – Meredith Wilson’s classic musical comes alive at this dinner theatre in Deer Park, offering the tale of salesman Harold Hill who cons the people of River City into organizing a boys’ band—despite not knowing a trombone from a treble clef. This production runs through Saturday, July 22. $20; $40 with dinner. 8pm.
